I was watching a show this weekend called Getting Lost with Erin French and if you haven’t heard of it, the show is connected with her restaurant . She opens her restaurant every summer inviting guests (through a postcard request that you send in for the season) to experience an extended dining experience with many courses. She creates menus each week based on what is in season and that she can get ahold of that week partnering with local farmers, fisherman and local people in the community she is a part of.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each winter their fresh fruit and vegetable options are limited due to the winter season. This year she embarks on a journey to gather inspiration from other people in areas throughout the country. They all have their own story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All of this to say there is something so special about people and why they do what they do. How they gather inspiration for what they do. Whether they own their own business or even just work for a company.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We realize we don’t spend enough time talking about our inspiration and why we do what we do. We often don’t spend enough time actually talking to other people about their inspiration and we should do more of it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So expect has to start sharing more of why we do what we do and what inspiration lies behind some of our work.

We love an elegant garden wedding reception. But in all seriousness is the perfect spot for an intimate wedding day just a short walk from Forsyth Park. The ambiance of their venue was the perfect place for couples looking for that all inclusive experience to take care of their guests.

This table scape had such intricate design from the tablecloth and menus that matched the lattace work on the Tea House to the pinks, yellows and whites balancing out the turquoise and teal to the matching salt and pepper dishes. Every inch of this table was thoroughly thought out.

As we approach the end of this pregnancy we wanted to share some personal photos for a change. Here’s to another stage of life beginning 🥰

Over the years our why in this business has changed. It has really been due to becoming parents and created an even deeper why than we realized we had. We do love getting to create in this business, trying new and old ways of capturing weddings and couples through photography and videography is something that we truly enjoy... but that isn’t the reason we work so hard on this business. Having a job that we choose the days we work and the hours we work is a great benefit. And being able to be home to raise our one, soon to be two kids is an amazing benefit. But the real reason why has to do with making an impact on the people we get a chance to work with. The experience we want you to have when you work with us. Viewing you as unique people individually and as a couple. Often times in our industry weddings can be viewed based on what it can do for the wedding professional... how it can benefit your business and get you more business. And we get it... that is running a business. BUT capturing someone in a format that they can preserve, keep and pass down (and yes pass down whether you have kids or not) is a HUGE job that we don’t take lightly. Memories captured, much like journals and books are all future generations have. By looking at you as unique people we get a chance to capture authentic memories of what families are like and from the beginning stages that we cherish. From capturing your wedding and engagement here at .photoandvideo to then capturing your family, newborn or just future portraits at we hope to capture memories so people know who you were, what you were like and what your life was like.

Something we are learning is how important doing things creatively for us is. Whether that is photographing a high end editorial or just hanging out in the backyard capturing our daughter being a kid it all helps us grow into the creatives we are now and will be.

If there is one thing we could take away from 2023 that we want to continue doing in 2024, it is travel! Although we are getting ready to welcome a new baby this spring that doesn’t mean we plan to stay put! We already have gone to Miami and are heading out Asheville. We can’t wait for all the places 2024 will take us this summer and fall too!

One of our biggest business goals this year is to keep working on our film photography. Film photography started as a fun hobby to start enjoying taking personal photos again... because when you are a photographer sometimes it is hard for it to not feel like your job. We wanted to make sure we captured all of our family memories now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What we love most about film is its imperfect. It brings this creativity that we can often feel lost in when we are shooting more than normal. It has been so fun discovering a new way of creativity that sometimes means blurry photos, out of focus and not composed perfectly. We can’t wait to share more of our work over 2024.

I was recently at a workshop and we chatted about add ons that we offered, aside from your typical wedding day coverage, that were meaningful to you. And without a doubt rehearsal dinner coverage is that add on for me. Your rehearsal dinner coverage is just an extension of your wedding day... moments that happen between family and friends, speeches that are given from those that you wouldn’t hear on your wedding day and of course a stylized day that you also spent time planning. Why wouldn’t you want to remember it the same as your wedding day?

We have to admit... we need to be better about sharing our albums and why every past, current and future bride and groom should invest in a wedding album!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Albums are a different way to experience your wedding gallery. We know all the hype right now is in digital photos you can download and share all over social media, etc. But there is something special about seeing a physical copy of that special day. You wouldn’t believe the amount of stories we have heard about couples losing, misplacing or just forgetting where they saved their wedding photos... in fact we are also guilty of that. When 2, 3, 4 and 10 years past you might not look at them as often. An album is a way to not only recreate that day in print but also something special you can pass onto your family later on.

Marissa and Britt got married on a rainy winter day. We stayed inside most of the day because of the pouring rain but had just enough of a break in the day for their ceremony to be out on the rooftop like they planned.

If I could describe the mood of this day in three words it would be lived with love, full of gratitude and emotional. Angelica and Caleb's day were filled with so many amazing moments and here are just a few from their day!

Morgan and Peyton shared the most emotional vows under oak trees in a downtown Savannah square. They met in a downtown Savannah bar and then lived right in Chatham Square where they decided to get married.

"As we released our little lantern I still remember my exact wish, I want this for the rest of my life."
