Don't miss the FREE cultural performances that are part of the Meeting of Two Cultures event at Kurnell on Saturday 29 April, when we mark 253 years since first contact between the Gweagal Community and Lieutenant James Cook and his HMB Endeavour crew on the shores of Botany Bay in 1770. The event aims to welcome, honour, acknowledge, respect; to go back so we may move forward together in recognising the Gweagal community and significance of first contact.

Official ceremony at 11am, followed by cultural performances, traditional workshops and yarning circles, free BBQ food and coffee. Presented by Sutherland Shire Council, La Perouse Local Aboriginal Land Council and .

The Sutherland Shire Citizens’ Heritage Festival is on again this year and on Saturday 22 April the always popular Heritage Bus will be stopping at Hazelhurst as it makes its way around Sutherland Shire.

Be sure to hop off the bus for a tour of the historic Hazelhurst Cottage and learn about this fascinating piece of Sutherland Shire history.

The Heritage Festival gets underway this weekend..Saturday 30 April 2022. From Loftus to Cronulla and out to Sylvania there is something near you.. start with a free vintage bus ride. Approximately hourly trips from 10am to 3pm. Hop on Hop off. Starts at Loftus Tramway Museum then visits the following venues, Brinsley's Joinery - Sutherland; Sutherland Shire Museum - Sylvania; Hazelhurst Gallery and cottage - Gymea; South Village Brickpit display - Kirrawee then back to Loftus Tramway Museum. see pinned post for timetable.
