A. Sawyer Costumes/Casa Mos-A - Anna Sawyer I specialize in creating and building unique designs, both historic, and from a galaxy far, far away. Also, the BB-8.1T Car. Instagram

As a history buff, I enjoy immensely creating bespoke, historically accurate garments for people who care about how they look. You may opt for either machine-stitched, or hand-stitched construction. Both are available, one takes much longer. I use the same approach for other costumes, like the Casa Mos-A Jedi garments. Ruffs and cuffs, and the supporting garment details, including underclothes, fe

ature prominently in creating an accurate silhouette. I am one of the few people out there who make standing open ruffs and supportasses with any accuracy to their original, historic, construction. I lived, for a time, in Paris, during which I studied fine applied metalwork on period textiles (historic embroidery). I am available to do period embroidery as well, but the lead and turn-around time is longer, as materials need to be imported, and hand-work of that complexity takes time.

Working on a tablet woven (brikkeband) belt for the Elder Child’s new beltestakk. It was requested that I make it match the big belte from Skien. I have a few meters of wool to go yet… this is one of the main reasons I took a tablet weaving course last winter, at .
Beltestakk are in the bunad family, and were rescued from extinction by folk dancers in the mid-20th c., partly due to their action, with the full stiffened skirt hem twirling up from moving feet. As my eldest pays the hardingfele, we couldn’t say no to the project. So here I sit 😂
The wool is from , as is my back strap. The last photo is also from them, showing a similar beltestakk to that which I am working on.

Well, at least we tried …
The Mounds View Parade was almost a thing tonight, but the weather had other ideas. At least we had an umbrella and car seats to offer for shelter… pic 3 shows just how hardy droids & robotics groups are? 😂

My lighting is awful, but whatevs, it’s been a week.
Grabbed this jacket at because it needed to be modded. I used a design I had put together a couple of years ago, cleaned it up, and redesigned & digitized the back panel while I was at it.
Can you name the inspiration? 😬😂

Handler team FTW!
Our great trooper crew, and of course, the incomparable cheerleader himself, .
Meanwhile, BB-8.1T was caught by one fan, peering through the gate (the droid, not the fan)…

I had a fabulous time last night “handling” our troopers from the Wolfpack Garrison with my fellow Rebel Legion & WG teammates. Perfect weather (until it wasn’t, but that was later 😂). & his crew are wonderful to work with. 10/10. And check out Puddles Pity Party, the clown has a voice to die for 😘

Parade #2 today, in Faribault, Minnesota for Faribault Heritage Days. A beautiful central MN town that we look forward to visiting again. We lined up at the county fairgrounds, meeting other groups who had also driven down after this morning’s parade. My eldest padawan went from morning Lt. Connix to evening trainee Droid Driver, learning to make the do its thing. Despite the weather and today’s terrible events, thousands of people turned out to have a fun and memory-making day with their families. SO MANY excited (and many very entertaining) reactions to all of the Star Wars characters and “Robot Car! Mom! MOM Hey, it MOVED, did you SEE that??? It’s a ROBOT!” 😂😆🥰

First parade of the day/year! St. Louis Park Parktacular Parade, as part of our local Star Wars clubs. At a balmy 58F today, with more than a hint of dreich, it was well suited to October.
This is also the first parade with the ‘s new stepper motor setup, and it worked brilliantly, after spending an inordinate amount of time getting everything to line up with it’s not-really-round components.
Parade #2 is coming… just have to drive down there first 😁

This morning was a troop at Children’s Minnesota Minneapolis campus. It’s always great to hang out with The Dude, and see just how much the kids adore his show. It’s a great break from their individual daily experiences. I am always grateful for the chance to bring something a little bit exciting to all of them, even if it’s only through a screen (CM is REALLY good with keeping the kiddos out of germs’ way).

May the Fourth Be With You!
Today was the day to take my eldest to see Rogue One on the big screen for the very first time. We met some of our friends outside The Parkway Theater! (I will be trooping tomorrow for Children’s Hospital St. Paul, today was a family holiday) 🥰

Just an update today - things have been really busy in Life, and projects haven’t been that exciting in the working phase. Rest assured, there is a BIG one coming to the point where it WILL be interesting to post WIPs (I’m looking at you, Star Wars people).
In the mean time, enjoy today’s vintage MN North Stars pendant thrifted just prior to this photo.
Then more machine embroidery practice, scary alterations to my mother-in-law’s bunad, and the first upholstery gig I have attempted, in trade with good friends.
