My top tips if you are thinking of a Christmas wedding:

1. Most venues have a certain level of Christmas decorations up at this time of year. Try to incorporate their colours and style to yours so that essentially you get free venue decoration, and everything looks coherent and intended.

2. If there is already lots of red and green for example, avoid adding too many other colours into the mix. Silver and gold goes with most colour schemes. Perhaps stick to white and metallics in your planning.

3. It’s going to be cold, and the heating will be on. Be careful that your cake isn’t situated near a heat source. Even in winter, cakes can still melt!

4. Incorporate some of the venue’s decor into your cake design. If they’ve got lots of sparkle and foliage, then by adding it into the cake design you’ll have a cake that compliments your venue and decor perfectly.

5. Think about making your flavours a bit more festive. Instead of a simple chocolate cake, how about chocolate orange or chocolate with salted caramel. Or making your carrot cake pop with a ginger buttercream. So many flavours are very quintessentially Christmassy, and it would be fun to make the most of them.

I feel like I’ve got a good make-up look going day-to-day that suits me well. So, I don’t want to go radically different for the big day. How do I just step it up a notch for a bridal look that’s still me?
