Looking back on the weekend just been .... so many ideas .. so many photos... @wmamot x I had been dreaming up so many ideas over the months to launch a new collection of prints and wall hangings.. and now it is coming to life.
Stu and I are trusting in the process of it all and leaving ourselves vulnerable and open to what it all means. We have faith that it is going to work. There is a lot of trepidation putting ourselves out there again with Austin Bloom. There has been so much history and we want to do things differently this time. It’s hard not to judge ourselves if we aren’t getting it right... for example I desperately wanted to create all the floral-scapes foam free but it wasn’t possible this time - due to technical know how for the right shot and time. I used some old oasis (but this is something we want to steer away from completely) - as we want our products to be sustainable in so many ways. These are the things I beat myself up about BUT there is so much room for evolution and changing the way we do things each time we shoot. Incredibly grateful for the flowers picked from my mother in law’s garden @charlestonfarm and local wholesalers.. @uniken_flowers @tonysflowers @stflowersadelaidehills
Exploring paint and taking myself into a place of learning and discovery with our new print collections! I haven’t explored painting too much since university days during my Visual Art degree. But now is the time to get back to the early years and old passions..no better time than now! When was the last time you picked up an old passion? A friend of mine said she was going to start singing in a community choir this year.. just to re-ignite her love for singing. In my case, having children (could also be years of immersing and focussing on career, or caring for a loved one, or studying.. etc etc ) has meant that so many of the things that lit me up had gone to the wayside. Let’s keep encouraging each other to find the time creatively, physically, mentally, spiritually to re-connect with what truly brings joy to our inner selves X

The Country Style wreath.. beautifully revealed by the gorgeous Mel of Ivyalicevintage - she has a beautiful little studio in the Adelaide Hills and it is filled with gorgeous handcrafted timber grazing boards. How peaceful does this setting look?! I think I could do with a day off or 5! Can you relate!!? As the year winds down everything seems to be ramping up! End of year concerts of all sorts, school transition visits, Father Christmas wish lists and ‘hellos’, the 5 year old ‘I want everything for Christmas’ demands that won’t stop from now on… there is a lot of noise that’s for sure. But sitting down here with you Georgi and Brie @georgi_ and @thefleurieushelf_ would be the sweetest thing! It’s in the transferring of creative thinking and making to the student and the student grasping the ideas and the passion, that is so rewarding.
After schooling I went through a visual art degree at Uni SA and went on to specialise in glass design - where I worked on large scale cast glass work and also fused glass jewellery. Following this I ended up in Graphic Design at RMIT. And somehow through all of this and learning how to think like an artist, the flowers welcomed me…. It was always there I suppose. My Father and Grandfather both avid gardeners taught me about the beauty of flowers, my Nanna always painted roses and my mother constantly perfecting the art of the perfect tussy mussy - this is what I always knew from a very young age. If I can encourage others to immerse themselves in the act of creativity through mini projects at home - then this is happiness.
