Welcome to 405 BRIDES. Thank you for visiting our site. We are daily living our dreams as we have the opportunity to photograph weddings, families & editorial features. We love what we do & we believe our work communicates such. Although we all work under 405 Brides, we’re much more than just one person. Rather, we’re a team of professional photographers. Our home base is in the beautiful Oklahoma

region, however, we work all over the world. Our desire is to capture your emotions and relationships in a beautiful & timeless manner. We want you to have classic images that remain relevant in spite of trends. Our attention to details & ability to push the boundaries of available light give our images an authentic, photo-journalistic feel. We strive to capture the personality of our subjects in such a way that brings an immediate connection to those who know them well. After all, we feel like it’s our job to tell your story.

This morning a local was asking for “cheap photographer” recommendations. An amazing photographer in the area replied with this statement. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get any better than this:::
“I want to break down a $300 family photo session for you. (I don’t charge $300, my portraits are priced much higher than that .. but for the sake of the example we’ll go with $300, because that seems to be the average of what a lot of photogs charge in this area)
- Shoot takes 1 hour
- Drive time is 1 hour (assuming the distance is only thirty minutes to and from the location) Also not including traffic.
- Editing time 3-5 hours (5 if you’re delivering a retouched quality product)
- Time it took to book the client (typically several detailed emails or a 30 minute phone call)
We’re up to 7.5 hours
Minus $33 for gas and wear and tear on your vehicle.
$267 / 7.5 hours = $35.60 per hour
Now wait, we haven’t added in the cost of running a photography business which on average is about $10,000 (that’s bare bones: insurance, proofing galleries, supplies, crm, equipment maintenance, etc). Mine is closer to $20,000 but that’s because I have a studio.
This also doesn’t take into account the years and years a photographer has spent honing their craft. It’s a skilled job (art!) that is often underpaid.
This ALSO doesn’t include if the photographer wants to put savings away for an emergency or ::gasp::: retirement 🤦🏻‍♀️
A photographer charging a $300 session fee would have to shoot 150 sessions to make $30,000 ($267 x 150 shoots - Basic $10k in expenses).
But wait, they haven’t paid income taxes yet….
You get the picture (no pun intended).
That’s not even a living wage. So if you’re a client (or a photographer) and you’ve actually spent the time to read this, $300 for a session is not a living wage. ❤️ “
