Supporting our friends at Ecclesbourne Valley Railway đđ¤ď¸
We are fortunate to work with heritage railways right across the UK to give visitors an excellent day out and support the preservation of historic transport.
The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in Derbyshire was our first host railway, is home to our most frequent operations and has welcomed thousands of our passengers in the last five years. Many of you will have joined us for a trip from Wirksworth to Duffield.
We are proud to support the railway from February to December each year with bookings and important revenue.
Last autumn, they suffered a very significant landslip on an embankment at the edge of Duffield station.
They are working hard to correct the landslip and, in addition, move the railway further from the embankment to give additional protection for future.
We want to reassure all visitors booked with us in Derbyshire through the next few months that our journeys will be completing the full line except a final section into Duffield station of a few hundred yards in a cutting.
As with all heritage railway projects, especially repairs, costs are huge. Therefore, the railway is raising funds to complete the element involving moving the track.
Dates are now published in most locations to mid November so take a look if youâre planning a special occasion this year for a lucky someone!

An Amazing Year â¨đŤ Thank You!
We have had a brilliant year in our small business.
In January, we had two host heritage railways. Now, we have ten - right across the UK.
We love trying things - and this year has been no exception. More journey types with different catering options, family trips and festive operations for the first time, welcoming visitors on five historic lines.
A huge step for us was to purchase our lovely British Railways MK1 carriage, No. 1813. It is supporting our friends at the Gwili Railway in South West Wales.
We have been able to hugely expand the support we give to heritage railways and other small businesses this year. In a time of rising costs, each booking makes it more possible for us to preserve steam together for future generations.
Of course, we had a serious issue in early December which we had to find a lot of determination to overcome. Thank you to everyone for your kind support - weâre still feeling the massive impact, but weâre more motivated than ever.
We want to offer a big thank you to all our partners - from host locations and suppliers to brilliant staff and our trade body, the Heritage Railway Association.
Most of all, we want to thank our wonderful visitors who we always love welcoming. Please come and see us again soon so we can continue doing what we love.
Our journeys start again in February, with tickets released on Friday 5th January at 7pm at foxandedwards.com
We continue to expand and offer new, exciting options so keep a look out throughout 2024 for additions!

Still time for Christmas gift vouchers! Give them a steam train trip filled with nostalgia and great memory-making.
Whether you are in the Midlands, Dorset or the South East, we have options for your lucky recipient.
They could enjoy a vintage journey with cream tea, a scenic trip with fish and chips or another one of our voucher types.
All vouchers are valid for 12 months with plenty of dates to choose from.
Prices start at ÂŁ75 for two people (together, not each). We can accommodate large family groups if you want to make memories together.
In almost five years of running our journeys, entertaining visitors and having a blast, we've perhaps not had a day yet as difficult as this one.
Earlier this evening, we learned of a complex fraud scheme which has taken a five-figure sum from our business.
Naturally, we're pretty stunned and upset. Such a large figure for a small business like us has a huge impact.
We want to reassure everyone that all bookings (current and future) are secured because we are very careful about our management of income and have been building our resilience in case of an unforeseen event.
Nevertheless, this time is going to be tough for us - particularly because advertising has paused as a result of this issue at our busiest time. We do not know when this will restart.
We are normally selling gift vouchers as presents, Santa Special journeys and so much more in December. Now, we're worried about the impact of this pause on these critical sales. Our sales for the rest of the month could be down 90% or more on our expectations.
We have always worked so hard to be a responsible and moral business by paying fair salaries/day rates, supporting our suppliers with same-day invoice settlement and delivering what we promise visitors.
We would be so grateful for any support you can lend us at this difficult time. What can you do?
- Our 2024 gift vouchers for Derbyshire, Kent, Dorset and Leicestershire are a perfect Christmas present for someone. Purchasing one of these would make a massive difference to us. You can find details at https://www.foxandedwards.com/steam-train-gift-vouchers.html - if you've joined us before, please consider coming again to see us.
- Signing up to our email newsletter. You can find this through foxandedwards.com - it would be really helpful for us to build this as an alternative route to letting you know what's going on.
- Spread the word! Sharing our name and posts would be immensely helpful to us.
More than anything, we want to reassure people that everything already in place is secured. We use completely separate systems for bookings and income/payments.
While we've certainly had better days, we remain extremely thankful for the amazing adventure we've had so far - thanks to you. We're just a small company with a heritage heart running steam train trips to make great memories.
