Fox & Edwards Events - Platinum / Headline Sponsor of the Heritage Railway Association Awards.
We're delighted to be the headline sponsor of the 2025 HRA awards in Newcastle.
The awards celebrate the superb work of heritage railways, tramways, rolling stock groups and more. The best of our sector is presented and efforts rewarded with recognition by our wonderful trade association.
The North East was the cradle of locomotive development so, in this 200th year of the birth of modern railways, it's a highly appropriate place for the awards. We're very pleased to be supporting the awards in this landmark year.
2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for Fox & Edwards Events too. With more journeys than ever before, exciting new railways & partnerships and a growing team, we're making a key contribution to the financial viability of our industry.

6 for 60 Gala at Gwili Railway! March 15th & 16th. Visiting locomotive, relaunched engine, newly-restored coach and much more to mark 60 years since the line closed & Railway 200.
We’re delighted to be coordinating the largest gala event in many years at the Gwili with a visiting steam locomotive, No. L150 courtesy of William Parker assisted by Epping Ongar Railway. The engine has travelled London Underground, the UK and Europe in recent years and is making its first appearance on our line for the event. It is only visiting for this event and will not see public use on any other dates.
It’s also exciting for us to see the relaunch of Gwili Railway's Haulwen locomotive back into traffic after overhaul at the event. The engine is in the final stages of completion so we apply the expected caveats here about its availability. In 2025, Haulwen celebrates its 80th birthday!
At Fox & Edwards Events, we're are an integral part of this gala weekend, sponsoring the visiting locomotive and coordinating with the railway's team. We are investing to support the railway based on a superb working relationship to date. One such investment is the loan of our newly restored 1950s compartment coach, freshly renewed and entering service this weekend.
The Great Western Railway’s history is core to the heritage of Gwili Railway - and this event is the first time in 37 years that two GWR engines will have been in use on the line.
This will be the last appearance of No. 6430 at an enthusiast event at Gwili for the time being - as the engine is withdrawn from service in early May. The locomotive has been a firm favourite with Fox & Edwards visitors since 2023.
We are expecting further attractions over the weekend too. Steam locomotive Moorbarrow is in use, while extras like stalls and miniature traction engines are planned.
Rover tickets (covering all day travel) are available and we hope as many visitors will book in advance as possible to support us with preparations and planning for the day.
Timetables are already published on the railway's website and tickets on-sale.
In 1965 - 60 years ago - passenger trains between Carmarthen & Aberystwyth ceased. We’ve restored 4.5 miles of the line and hope local residents, maybe who have not visited in many years, will see this as a good opportunity to see how far the railway has come.
Railway 200 is a national celebration of 200 years since the birth of the modern railway in Britain, sparking a global revolution in travel. This event helps us to take part in celebrations.
We are also working on even more exciting journey options and locations so look out for further details soon!
You can book online for any of the above journeys, including processing gift vouchers where applicable. Our enquiries team are available Monday to Friday 10:00-15:00 on the telephone too!

Welcome!
Thanks for stopping by - when life has so many stations, it’s lovely to welcome you to our ‘wayside halt’ of adventure!
Fox & Edwards Events is the the brainchild of two people, both equally enthusiastic about creating a thriving events business but from very different backgrounds! We’ve both provided short biographies below.
Hi there! I’m Julie, a retired civil servant having had a successful career in criminal justice. I love to travel and experience new things and want to provide this for others. I am particularly interested in making our opportunities accessible wherever we can although our heritage can sometimes imposes constraints. Olly has so many creative ideas he has my head spinning but it is inspiring and exciting too! Look forward to meeting you all and providing you with a great adventure!
Hey up - Olly Edwards here! Spent my formative years travelling on & working with steam trains. From Cornwall to Aberdeen, Wales to West Yorkshire, I’ve travelled and learnt from the best about how to enthuse visitors. Now, I want to create amazing experiences for people just like you! Let’s make heritage a buzz word, not a past relic. Let’s see some beautiful things, make some special memories and get everyone engaged. Julie’s an amazing mind, with lots of experience, and I’m a big dreamer so join the adventure today by following, liking, sharing & booking a ticket or two!
Are you an individual, company or charity? Would you like us to run an event for you? We are open to a range of ideas and suggestions involving heritage. Please make contact to discuss options on [email protected]
