It’s official: I’m planning dates again, exclusively for people who dog sit for us. 🤪 After my “retirement”… it felt extra fun to do this for my cousin and his girlfriend. I used the new Apple FreeForm app and it was OK. My old templates are on a hard drive and I couldn’t be bothered digging them up. Lol.

Cocotte is a gorgeous new restaurant inside the completely renewed , in the heart of downtown Ottawa. The Metcalfe is now part of Montreal’s chic , so as you’d expect not a single detail has been missed.
At Cocotte, executive chef has created modern French bistro fare with thoughtful canadian elements. I’ve been a big fan of Stephen for 10+ years, and you’ll see his signature creativity all over this menu. Some standouts:
🌟 Beef tartare with everything bagel spice and MTL bagel crostini
🌟 Truffle grilled cheese with optional caviar
🌟 Fogo Island turbot cru with heirloom carrot ceviche
🌟 “Ottawa Brest”, a national capital spin on the iconic Paris Brest dessert
I’ve been to Cocotte three times since it opened — twice on my own dime and most recently they gifted me for my birthday. Every visit has had warm and welcoming service, excellent dishes, and a unique and surprisingly well-priced wine list.
I highly recommend a trip to Cocotte Bistro], let me know if you go!

It’s official—Tony and I are wed. We danced under this willow tree, danced some more under the stars with all of our guests, and danced during our mini moon so we wouldn’t forget our choreographed routine. 💃🏻

Little story: When I was walking down the aisle, I turned the other way as a joke. Runaway Bride? Julia Roberts? Then proceeded to notice all the people standing up and said while walking, “I love you. I love you. I love you.” I looked up at Tony and said, “And I love you the most!” It wasn’t rehearsed. I didn’t know what would spit out of my mouth. And, well friends, he didn’t notice. Maybe his eyes were on our dogs at the alter. Wicket was itchy and Wesley was fixated on turkey vultures. Maybe his eyes dropped to look at my stunning farm-grown from Carp bouquet. The perk of having a videographer there—is we can hit replay and catch some of these little things.

I find it fascinating how different a wedding is for each and every person there. The stories are definitely unravelling as we hear about it from others. I thought I’d cry all day, but I was so weepy leading up to the event that by the time everything was happening I only teared up when Tony danced with his mom. The rest was pure joy and smiles.
