GHANA YOUTH GUIDE staff today visited the Savannah Region to monitor our upcoming project which will be implemented in the Kpalbe District.
The project will strengthen young people in the area of governance and leadership development by building their capabilities for social change.
The visit was led by our Executive Director, Administrator, Director of programmes, communication officer and our gender development officers.
Under our project, our staff, volunteers and interns planted over 1,000 trees in our operational areas thus; Savelugu Municipality, Tolon District and the Savannah Region.

GYG conducted preliminary field research on the target groups, (our small scale farmers) . The field work revealed that patriarchal inheritance remains the primary means of accessing and acquiring farmland.
Through this patriarchal structure in the region, women face marginalization when it comes to acquiring land for agricultural production. This gender inequality impacts the long-term sustainability of women's livelihoods.
Recognizing this issue, our intervention has been prioritizing the inclusion of women by aiming 60% female small-scale farmers in our main target group.
This brought the realization of GYG ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture project which is currently been implemented currently in the Savelugu Municipality and the Tolon District with the technical support from DIB and funded by CISU - Civilsamfund i Udvikling

Under GHANA YOUTH GUIDE project on ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture, over the week my field officer for Tolon District Dawuni Peter Augustine joined me as the project coordinator in the Savannah Region where we planted over 200 trees to mitigate climate change in the region. Thank you to the people of Salaga North constituency.

GYG ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture
Project staff and volunteers held another follow up meeting with our small scale farmers in the Savelugu Municipality.
All small scale farmers including PWD's participated in the meeting.
300 seedlings were also distributed to the farmers to plant as we intensify our campaign to mitigate climate change and improve climate smart Agriculture.
The seedlings was supported by the Ghana Forestry Regional Division which was as part of efforts made to support farmers for the 2023 Green Ghana Project by the Government of Ghana.
The project staff and volunteers visited some farms of the project beneficiaries to monitor the progress of the project.
The project is the technical support from DIB and with funding support from CISU - Civilsamfund i Udvikling and being implemented by GHANA YOUTH GUIDE
As part of GYG ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture project, today our project staff, and volunteers held a fellow-up meeting in the Tolon District where we interacted with our small scale farmers and also distributed over 200 trees to them to plan in their various homes and farms to mitigate climate change.
The project staff and volunteers also visited some farms of our project beneficiaries to monitor their farms as they undergo a two days training on climate smart agriculture which was organized by GHANA YOUTH GUIDE with the technical support from DIB and funded by CISU - Civilsamfund i Udvikling

GYG ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture project focuses on Persons with disabilities as well.
Sign language instructors have been engaged, and audio recordings have also been designed and used when it comes to facilitating some of our training sessions to make sure they (PED's) fully understand and engage in the process, as several of the PWD’s are either blind or deaf.

Under GYG ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture project, an interactive Radio Program has been designed to broadcast information in our local dialect, created to as a platform for small-scale farmers to voice their challenges.
Agricultural extension officers and other stakeholders have been invited from the first quarter to the second quarter to share an extensive knowledge on topics related to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Small-scale farmers in Tolon and Savelugu project beneficiaries capabilities have been developed in climate-smart agriculture.
Climate-smart agricultural training guide was developed, produced and distributed to all the projects beneficiaries (small-scale farmers).
The project team also selected small-scale farmers within the communities of Tolon and Savelugu based on the criteria (young, 60% women, including PWDs).

As the rains set in, our organization intends to plant over 1,000 trees in two districts thus, Tolon and Savelugu which has been ear-mark as our project implementing districts under our ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture project.
This is with the technical support from DIB and with funding from CISU - Civilsamfund i Udvikling
The project has been targeting small-scale farmers of which the majority of them are women, including persons with disabilities.
We commend all our local collaborators for their support for project sustainability, notable among them are; Traditional authorities, media both (Print and Electronics), Department of agric under the ministry of food and agriculture, district assemblies, youth groups, Ghana Education Service (Regional), Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unite under the Ghana Police Service (Regional) and the Regional Coordinating Council for their support before and during the project implementation.
As an organization, we will continue to work in the best interest of our society especially when it comes to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Over the week GHANA YOUTH GUIDE staff were joined by the regional forestry commission of Ghana on our monthly interactive radio program under our ‘Strengthening Ghanaian Youth - Through Climate Smart Agriculture project.
We discussed climate-change mitigation and adoption and the importance of planting more trees to retrieve the lost vegetation.

GHANA YOUTH GUIDE staff and interns from the Copenhagan College University held our weekly evaluation meetings at our office earlier this week. We reviewed our tree planting project in the Tolon and Savelugu Municipality. In the coming week we will be planting 1,000 trees in the two districts to support our small-scale farmers including persons with disabilities.

We held a one day sports development training for tuutingli unity FC and Oxford Fc in the Tamale Metropolis.
This was as part of efforts made by the organization to empower young female soccer players on reproductive health and rights. Players were also trained on a positive mindset on football.
One of our student interns from Copenhagan college University Alex called on the young girls to take their training seriously if they want to see themselves at the international level especially playing with big soccer teams in Europe.
The GYG sports development training which is under our Village Project brought together 40 young female soccer players, 10 coaches from both teams.
This is the first edition of our Sports Development Training which was organized by our organization.
The program will also hunt for young female soccer players from both teams by creating opportunities for them to explore more talent in their field.
GYG Executive Director Prince Chentiwuni was the training lead facilitator.

Earlier today I led my project staff and our interns at GYG for a working field visit to Libga in the Savelugu Municipality where we interacted with our project beneficiary in their farms.
This was as part of efforts made by GYG and our partners to have first hand information about the progress of the project after the Small-Scale farmers training in Tamale which drew farmers, volunteers, board members as well as persons with disability to strengthen their capabilities through Climate Smart Agriculture and Civic Organizing.
The first also forms part of our fellow-up stakeholder engagement meeting slated for this Saturday the 11th of May, 2024 which will draw major stakeholders together for us to deliberate on the Role of Traditional Leaders in Agricultural Development in Ghana.
We shall also be donting Tress to N-Yab Yoo-Naa on Saturday in the Savelugu Municipality which forms part of project intervention.

Earlier today I led my staff and our interns at GYG for a working visit to the Students Representative Council of University for Development Studies where we held a round table discussion on Students related matters.
We also discussed students Exchange programmes between GYG, our interns from the University College of Copenhagan (Denmark) and the University for Development Studies.
The visit will also strengthen relationships between GYG, University for Development Studies, and College of Copenhagan and our partners for future students exchange programmes between both Universities.
The relationship will also give students at the University for development Studies the opportunity to intern at Ghana Youth Guide. This will create a platform for the students to learn from GYG and also practicalize what they learn in school.
