Visibility is a responsibility so we made a party series about it.

This is a small city, and what feels like a smaller town socially sometimes. Pride events have had trouble taking foothold here for years. The le***an bars are few and far between. Homophobia is still alive and well here, and we all experience it daily. The current federal government now reflects these social failings and encourages hate and fear mongering culture, antifeminism and abuse of rights of marginalized members of society.

... So what’s there to throw a party about?

The resistant, vibrant and thriving LGBTQ+ community of Peoria, IL USA is worth throwing a party about. We’re here, navigating what remaining visible means in a time when it feels so much safer and easier to crawl under the covers and go back to bed. But here’s why coming together as a community, finding a local space (bar, lodge, event hall, restaurant, storefront, outdoor venue) that has not conventionally been recognized as a q***r space/ally and making it the scene for an epic, safe, free-form, dynamic, joyous Q***R PARTY is SO important right now:

“I Don’t Know Who Needs to Hear This But...” : We put out the signal, and an LGBTQ+ individual who previously felt unseen, disconnected or terrified of trying to make their way into q***r social circles sees that signal and suddenly understands: they are seen. And we are here. And they can be themselves. That’s huge in a small city like ours. I know you and your q***r friends all have stories about how hard it was to find your people in Peoria. I know I have that story. Let’s be the pivotal moment in someone’s story where they enter a room full of kindred, q***r spirits and finally feel at home in Peoria.
