Let me introduce you to Elizabeth and Charles. I guarantee that after watching their wedding film, you will feel a sense of gentleness. A feeling of love, comfort, and hope. That’s how it feels to be around them. You’ll notice how they treat each other and the love and support as they are surrounded by their friends and family.

I love that throughout their wedding day, both Charles and Elizabeth referenced how quickly they fell in love with each other. They both felt accepted and loved by each other’s families right away and knew they saw a future in the other very early on. I thought it was so sweet.

Liz and Charles also happened to get rain on both their wedding day and their story session that we did a little more than a month before their wedding day. We met up in September at the place where they had their first date. If you see the clip where they are standing by a bench, that’s the bench that they sat on and talked together on their first date. So of course we needed to include that in their wedding film! I love being able to include little pieces of their history into their wedding video that will be with them forever.

Before, during, and right after their wedding ceremony, it was pouring rain. Thankfully, they’re photographer, Dori, knew that we could get some great photos right next door to the church with an overhang. And we were all so happy when the skies cleared and we were able to get some golden hour photos at their reception venue later on in the night.

The entire wedding day was filled with a sense of faith, love, and family. I think Liz and Charles are a beautiful couple and their wedding day really radiated their amazing love. It’s the beginning of a great story!

don’t you always stand in a field of wildflowers and weeds and edit your videos? no?? just me? hm.

in reality i’m in sweatpants and hoodies every day wrapped in blankets and cushioned with heated corn bags either at my desk or in my reclining chair. haven’t turned the heat on yet. don’t be confused though, i am LOVING the hygge vibes october has brought. i’ve learned that fall is the season of my soul and i am completely here for it.

when i’m not running in the woods, reading books, taking midday walks with zeke, and generally enjoying all the coziness i am camped out with my computer. i’ve had quite a few people sign up for a documentary edit so along with those, this past weekend’s wedding, and a baptism video, my editing queue is quite long. i’m grateful for the work and creating invaluable tools to help people remember life’s most important days.

i guess all of this to say, i really believe in and love what i do. and really thankful for all the people who invite me into their adventures with them 💜

I’m sure the maid of honor, best man, father of the bride and priest didn’t all share notes ahead of time, but they were all saying similar things. That there’s a magic to the love between Jackie and Tom. They love others well, and the love they share together has changed the lives of those around them. I completely agree. These two have something special and I’m honored as a videographer and person that I got to capture their day. You gotta watch this one. i love emma + jp’s long and winding love story. it’s been 16 years in the making! it started when they were in high school and after many twists, turns, long distance, and more, they decided to go all in in 2020. they love to travel and one of the places they went was the The Lake House on Canandaigua as they were recommitting to their relationship. it’s only fitting that they chose the same place as they got married and made that commitment a forever kind of thing.

the wedding was gorgeous and it was a joy to see the comfort these two have with each other and all of the amazing things their friends and family had to say about them! definitely a day to remember! 💜

hey it’s ashley. a little about my vibe these days:

i’m super intentional when it comes to most things (parenting, marriage, finance, business, health, etc.) but every sunday you’ll find me on the couch all day watching football and eating copious amounts of soup and good bread. i make smoothies and salads on the regular but i’m also always down for a white claw and french fries. i’ve been a taylor swift fan for 16 years and listen to her every day but also love curating spotify playlists to fit any occasion. i’ll remember your birthday and your anniversary and the details of how you met your partner but i won’t remember what your job is. i’m a no-fuss, cozy-living, sunrise-walking, earth-loving, memory-making, passionate person who is in disbelief of the awesome, amazing, life i get to live. and i love working (and playing!) with people who appreciate that vibe. say hi, let’s be friends!

Here’s a special announcement I’ve been waiting for over a year to make…!

This little videography business is ready for its next adventure! I’d like to officially introduce you to Cassie, the newest team member to Next Adventure Films!

Cassie (.vxtell) and I originally met through our church, I filmed her wedding in 2021, and quickly became close friends after that. She started assisting me at weddings in July 2022 and is currently training as a second shooter. You’ll be seeing more and more of her at weddings this year and next. And we’re SUPER excited to be able to offer associate shooter packages with her starting with 2025 weddings! 🎉 (in layman’s terms, it means she films your wedding, I edit it, and it’s a little less expensive. More on that later).

Why Cassie is a great addition to my team:
1️⃣ She loves love. She loves being married. She loves weddings. She loves her husband a little more after every wedding because she gets the same kind of wedding high I always get.
2️⃣ She’s got the best laugh. Hands down. She laughs and everyone else is laughing!
3️⃣ She can bring the positive energy with a laid-back-attitude to every wedding, which is what I strive for on each wedding day.
4️⃣ She’s a quick learner. Right now we’re still training as a second shooter but watch out, she’s gonna be awesome! And she’s being completely trained by me from the ground up so you know you’ll get the same Next Adventure eye that I bring to every wedding!

I could go on and I will in future posts because we had a bangin’ photo shoot with the lovely (please go check her out!) last night and she’s gonna give me enough content to last me a good long time.

They met at age 12. She instantly had a crush on him. They started dating at 14/15. And now, at 21, these two high school sweethearts are married! THESE are the love stories I live for!

Kristina and Dan were hoping and praying that it wouldn’t rain on their wedding day. Well…you don’t always get what you want. But when that happens, do like Kristina and Dan do and just laugh about it. Don’t take it too seriously and just roll with it!

Personally, I LOVED how their wedding ceremony ended. It was funny, brought some character, and definitely made some memories! Kristina and Dan are such a fun-loving couple that laughed all day and had a blast with their guests. I loved getting to capture their day!

Some mid-wedding season thoughts for ya…

I’m going to prioritize story over the perfect shot. To me, you’re getting married and I’m there to capture what happens and create a wedding film from there. I want to work around your wedding day, not have your wedding day fit into a certain formula for a wedding video.

Sure, I’ll give you prompts and may ask you to come closer to the natural light from time to time, but more importantly I want you to have fun on your wedding day. When you watch your video I want you to remember how you felt and I aim for those feelings to be: in love, magical, fun, whimsical, inspired, excited, content, joy, adventurous.

I wonder sometimes if we’ve let weddings become a mere photoshoot. Or trying to capture the latest trend to post on social media. I honestly want to show up, hear your stories, really listen to your promises, laugh and tear up over what your friends and family share about you, find out what’s important to you, and capture you just as you are…and along the way film some beautiful shots of you two canoodling and laughing together. That’s the kind of wedding videographer I always strive to be.

And I am *LOVING* the weddings I’ve been having lately. I’ve truly had a lot of fun filming your weddings and I’m totally in the zone with editing..thankful the creativity is fresh and flowing! 💜🙌🏻👩🏼‍💻

Had an amazing weekend with the person I just fit together with. I love finding new and beautiful ways to say “I love you.” We got to listen to songs live that we used to listen to back in early college days. We found a (new to us) song that feels like it was made to describe our relationship specifically. Ran my fastest 5k in the last 3 years while running alongside him. We talked, dreamed, and laughed so hard. I love our endless conversation 💜

And go ahead and listen to “Fit Together” by Augustana, it’s my current song on repeat!

A couple weeks ago I visited Ciera and Jeff with their new bundle of joy, Beau! Ciera and Jeff got married in 2020 with their “plan G” wedding and still to this day, their video is one of my favorites and some of my very favorite video work came from their wedding day. They have an incredible story and it was an honor to capture their next adventure! Beau was awake most of the time with curious eyes and newborn noises that had us all laughing. These newborn videos are just so stinking cute and precious to make!!

I’m really into being their mom right now. I’m giving it my all. I’m not perfect and I mess up but I keep trying every day.

I learned something important about myself in therapy over the last year and a half and I’ve seen the effects trickle down to my kids. Mark read my blog post on this last night and said it’s the best one I’ve written so far. He said it’s good for parenting but as an individual as well. Sharing my first ever recipe on the blog today! 2 minute, 2 ingredient homemade magic shell as well as two different recipes for NICE cream! My family loves this healthier alternative to ice cream and a hard chocoately shell whenever our sweet tooth is calling!

introducing : next adventure life ✨

a few months ago i had a stroke of inspiration and thousands of ideas flooded my mind that kept me up all night. this is the start of those ideas.

next adventure life is a focus on the matters of the heart. things that can’t be touched: intentionality, relationships, growth, love, joy. it’s about future-oriented thinking, living with intention but being rooted in the now.

i’m starting small. yesterday i released the “next adventure life” branch to my website and it’s live! you’ll find a dozen organized blog posts i’ve worked on all year as well as a shop that will be growing with tools and resources for you, some free, some frugally priced. topics include marriage, parenting, intentionality for yourself, money, books, and more!

abundance ✨

that’s how i would describe my season right now. as in, there are an *abundant* number of things i am interested in and want to devote my time to. i want to write, i want to expand my business, i want to work on another branch of my website, i actually want to spend more time WORKING on the things that are lighting me up right now, and i also want to run every day and read so many fiction and non-fiction books, and read books with my kids DAILY, and go to bed early (because don’t underestimate a fantastic night’s sleep), but also spend every single night on the couch chatting with mark about all things big and small and also read our books together (okay so reading is a big thing in our life rn!), and lean into snow days and slow saturdays where we play board games and drink frothy hot cocoa and choose not to work. i want to invite people over, for people to feel relaxed and cozy in our home and feed them delicious food, i want to show love to someone every single day. i want to have slumber parties with my kids, drinks with my best friends, hangouts with my family, and oodles of alone time. i want to keep dreaming and chase down inspirations and take risks and show up completely as myself because i’ve never felt more aligned in my whole life.

i want to do it all. i’m overflowing with passions, excitement, and inspiration. now i just gotta take it one day at a time. 🤩

every year i like to make a good number themed list to go along with my birthday. this year it’s 36 life nuggets! here are a few!

1. You can change your mind.
3. When having a conversation, it’s okay to talk about you, but make sure you ask the other person questions, too!
4. Find great stories and get lost in them!
5. Move a little bit each day.
8. Vegetables are actually delicious if you know how to prepare them.
9. Be slow to anger.
10. Find people who care about and know your story. And learn their story too.

I read a quote from Roald Dahl last week about being a stodgy or sparky parent (swipe to see the quote).

It got me thinking. Most days I feel like a stodgy parent. I’m weighed down by the mundane responsibilities. Chores. Errands. You know.

And then I read something like this and I’m inspired to add some *SPARK* to our lives. To step outside the monotony and create a little magic!

I came up with 32 ways I’ve been a sparky parent and realized okay maybe I’m not doing so bad after all! But I’d love to add more spark moments to my life. Yes for my kids but even just for ME! To level up my fun factor, to be a little more playful, and make some good memories along the way.
