to a few months ago when we thought the nightmare would end soon. Here we are 10 months in and nothing has changed! This photo was taken at the in Washington DC after one of his amazing live performances!!
There is a “DJ Story” that goes along with this photo and this memorable night. I’ll give you the shortest version possible:

I had receive confirmation prior to the show that we would be backstage with KRS that night and since this was during the era I was doing mix tapes I decided to bring a tape deck and a microphone, in a duffel bag, to get a mix tape drop.

Fast forward… we’re backstage and Kris agreed to give me a drop and while I was pulling the tape deck out of the duffle bag he said since it’s for mix tapes he would give me an exclusive freestyle to feature for my next mix tape.

Me: 🤯 trying to maintain my composure.

I plugged in the tape deck, turned it on, pulled out the microphone and proceeded to plug it in to do a quick sound/recording check.

At the time I had 3 tape decks and I realized I brought the one tape deck without a microphone input. Back then we didn’t have (couldn’t afford) good quality portable recorders.

Needless to say the recordings never happened and I missed out on having an exclusive freestyle directly from KRS-One! This was over 20 years ago and I don’t think I’ve ever felt that level of disappointed in my life. 🤦🏻‍♂️☹️
