Further to my update just now, I gave the smaller PA system a run with The Rock Addicts at Kiama Leagues 10 Feb. At the gig the band asked "how is your 'retirement' going - Whispering Mark?" . Sometimes you just have to cop your lumps 😂🤣. With the system being used for just vocals and tracks, here's a little of their version of Good Times.

I posted in late Dec 23 that I was taking a break and not taking bookings for 2024. I had been thinking about stopping with many pros and cons to consider. But rather than stop, I have decided to reduce the size of the PA and try carrying on a while longer with bands at venues that suit . So gigs will be a bit 'smaller scale' and not so far away from home. A few more updates to follow - cheers all 🙂

Hi again. further to my NYE post, I thought I'd share some photo's of the load-in, set-up and load-out. It's quite a long push from van to stage area (about 100 mtrs x 4 loads - done twice ... but it seems further 😁), including about 30 mtrs of steep-ish disabled ramp. My guess is all the PA bits add up to about 650 kgs. I probably lose a kilogram in perspiration in and out 😂🤣 - cheers again 🙂

Hi. I did a last gig before my break with The Psychedelics at Kiama Bowling Club on NYE. The band played really well, and with a good crowd it was a good NYE gig. Here's a very-short video of the band doing Bob Dylan's 'Like a Rolling Stone' (I stopped the video when some pesky dancers got in the way 😂🤣). It was certainly the last gig I'll do with the PA in that configuration - cheers all 🙂

Hi there

I just wanted to let people know that I will be on a break from gigs from the start of 2024, so I'm not taking new bookings at present.

I'd like to add a very big thank you to all the people and bands I've worked with over the years, and also say thanks to folks who have been otherwise involved or interested.

Wishing everyone joy for the festive season and may everyone's new year be a good one.

Cheers, Mark

Last night 9 Dec at Kiama Leagues Club with The Rock Addicts. They hire a 'vocals and backing-tracks only' system. No tracks in this segment of their version of S*x on Fire by Kings of Leon. It was Gig #39 (it could have been #52 except for 9 'Covid' cancellations and 4 other 'venue' cancellations). Solid rocking Australian covers band and a great bunch of guys😃

I had a late booking last week to provide a vocal pa for Surpise Party at Club Cronulla last night. Vocals, guitar and tracks into the PA, with drums and bass live. Here's a couple of minutes of their version of King's of Leon's S*x is on Fire (note this song doesn't include any backing tracks - not needed 🙂)

... and secondly; baby we were Born to Run

I had the pleasure of working with Born in the USA the Springsteen/Mellencamp show last night. Really enjoyable hearing songs from those great song writers, played and perfomed so well by the band; and the crowd appreciation and applause after every song was well deserved. So here's a couple of snippets from the night (my apologies for being a poor phone videographer). First ... Here's a little ditty about Jack and Dianne 🙂

... and a video from Toxic Dolls from last night 21 April 2023 at Club Cronulla. The band hired the "vocals only" pa system and brought their back drop and lights. Here's part of their version of Come Out and Play by The Offspring. Toxic Dolls are playing tonight at the Sussex Inlet Tavern.

A couple more video's today from recent gigs. First one is The Breakaways at Bargo Sports Club on 8 Apr 2023, doing their version of Amy Winehouse' "Valerie" to a 'quiet' crowd. They are playing tonight at Riverstone Schofields Memorial Club from 9pm.

I must be getting light headed. I'm posting another gig video ... two weeks in a row !😀. Here's a goodly portion of Modern Vintage at Campbelltown Catholic Club last Friday 10 March, playing their version of Jessie J's song Price Tag 🙂

... and here second tune from Akinga at Campbelltown Catholic Club - Sat 4 March. This is a part of Men at Work's "Down Under 😃

Here's the first of two other videos form this weekend. These are from Akinga at Campbelltown Catholic Club - Sat 4 March. Again these are just parts of their covers. First one is a cover of "Superstar" first released by Christine Milton's followed closely by Jamelia 🙂

I haven't posted any videos for a while. So I thought I'd post a snippet from "Just Like Paradise" by Glam Haven at Colonial Hotel Werrington - Fri 3 March. These are just from a phone, so the quality is ... well ... "phone and phone holder while making a couple of mixing adjustments" quality 😂. I'll also add a couple others in a separate post 🙂

Set up for One Hit Wonders at Oatley Hotel last night (Sat 10 Dec 22). An excellent band that keeps the hits rolling non-stop during their sets and gets the crowd dancing right from the start. A tight and well rehearsed show.

Here's a video of The Psychedelics playing 'House of the Rising Sun' at Club Windang last night (from the band's Facebook site). Their raison d'etre is performing songs of the psychedelic era of the late 1960's. They go to a lot of trouble bringing back the colours and images of the time as well as the music. How good are those backdrops 😃

Last Friday night 11 March, The Psychedelics debuted at Dicey Riley's Hotel in Wollongong. A band of experienced muso's getting together to bring back the psychedelic music era of the late 60's and early 70s. Here's their last song for the night "Born to Be Wild", which was a hit for Steppenwolf (lighting effects thanks to a rare appearance of Greg Morris 🙂 )
