We were honoured to once again support as consulting partners for this year’s Alberta Business Hall of Fame Awards Gala, an evening dedicated to celebrating the remarkable achievements and leadership of Alberta’s most influential business builders.

This year’s Laureates, including Heather Culbert and Michael Culbert, Jeff McCaig, and Jim Bertram, represent the very best of Alberta’s entrepreneurial spirit, community impact, and long-term vision. It was a privilege to help elevate an event that recognizes those who have shaped (and continue to shape) the economic and social fabric of our province.

The evening opened with an exclusive Board of Governors Reception bringing together some of Alberta’s most respected business professionals before guests gathered for a memorable program. We especially loved that Junior Achievement CEO, Jessica Cohen took the role of emcee and welcomed JA students on stage to share their stories and inspiration. A powerful reminder of why this event exists: to honour today’s leaders while investing in the generation of tomorrow.

Congratulations to the entire JA team and this year’s Laureates on an exceptional night celebrating excellence, impact, and legacy.

Kudos to our partners:

We were honoured to partner with Lionheart Foundation this year as their new event strategy and planning team for Youth Power Hour 2025, a sold-out luncheon that brought together over 1,100 business and community leaders in support of youth mental health. 💛

For more than 15 years, this incredible event has inspired vital conversations about how we can better understand and support the next generation, and this year was no different.

This year’s theme, “Attachment Theory: Beyond the Buzzwords,” brought doctors and subject matter experts together on stage for a meaningful discussion on how attachment shapes youth mental health, and how parents, educators, and communities can respond with compassion and care.

One of the most powerful moments came from a young speaker who shared her journey with anxiety and the support she found within the Lionheart Foundation, brought to life on screen through a live performance by local sand artist, Kelly Choo.

Our team was honoured to support the longstanding legacy of this special event while bringing fresh perspective and renewed energy to its planning alongside key partners Peters and Associates Corp. who’s strategic work resulted in record attendance and sponsorship. It’s been an incredible first year collaborating with this team, and we’re proud to play a part in advancing their vital work.

Here’s to the power of community, storytelling, and thoughtful event design that makes impact where it matters most.

We’re honoured to have partnered once again with for the 2025 Trellis Soirée 🌻 - a night that proved the power of bold thinking, brave leadership, and community generosity.

This year marked the second chapter of a brand new event strategy that our team developed in partnership with Trellis: a fresh, three-phase format designed to modernize the gala experience and build deeper connection.

From the high energy reception to the seated storytelling program and the electric after party, the format was created to reignite engagement and inspire giving.

And it worked.

Together, this incredible community raised over $1 million in one night to support Calgary’s youth and families through vital mental health, housing, and education programs.

We’re so proud of the Trellis team and their bravery to embrace change, trust in the process, and their commitment to making this event as meaningful as it is memorable.

Here’s to reimagining what fundraising experiences can be and to using the power of live events to do real good for our community.

Thanks to our incredible event partners who are all tagged!

Last year, we were approached by - a fundamental charity dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families - with a challenge: 🎇 reimagine a new strategy for their long-standing annual gala.

For years, it had been a traditional seated dinner with a program, live auction, and dance. But Trellis knew it was time to modernize, energize, and engage their community in a new way.

That’s where we came in.

We knew the approach needed to blend the energy and connection of a reception-style event with the impact of having a captive audience for storytelling, fundraising, and a focused program segment.

Together with our clients, we created a bold new strategy: a three-phase experience designed to maximize connection and impact.

✨ Phase 1: A vibrant reception with entertainment, canapes, fundraising activations and plenty of space for connection.

✨ Phase 2: A fully built theatre for a compelling seated program and live auction.

✨ Phase 3: A high-energy afterparty with a band, chef-attended stations, exciting lounge designs, and silent auction.

The results? An outstanding success, raising over $1 million ($1,011,599 to be exact 🤯) while giving guests a fresh, unforgettable experience.

This fall, we’re proud to partner with Trellis again to build on that momentum.

This journey is a reminder of what can happen when organizations are bold enough to embrace change: you not only elevate the experience but you also amplify impact for the community.

Here’s to doing good, differently 🌻

Big doesn’t always mean huge.⁣

This weekend, we supported an unforgettable experience for just 9 VIP guests—from around the globe—featuring some of the world’s fastest, most exotic vehicles.⁣

A sleek excursion from the GTA to Niagara-on-the-Lake celebrated a major milestone with high speeds, high stakes, and beautifully simple execution.⁣

We’ve learned that impact isn’t about the size of the guest list or production budget. It’s about intention, detail, and delivering something truly exceptional.⁣

Small group. Big moment. That’s what defines a great event. ⁣

We don’t talk often enough about the dynamic super-duo that is Corporate Communications + Strategic Events.

Over the years we’ve learned countless new skills and ways of thinking through our communications colleagues:

📈 How to weave complex information into a digestible narrative
📈 When to leverage data versus sentiments to display a message
📈 Why communications plays a critical role in the employee experience and events

Speaking of events, the modern comms team leverages experiences as part of their work, often becoming mini Event Producers behind the scenes, leading the charge on building their corporate culture along the way. It’s incredible to watch.

Because of this, partnering with best in class corporate communications teams is one of the best parts of job! 💥💯

Our team is lucky to partner up with the comms professionals in-house at Pembina Pipeline Corporation on multiple strategic projects and events throughout the year. This fall, we took the annual RISE Awards program down a new path, integrating the ceremony and celebration into the annual Employee Townhall, creating a larger platform for the powerful success stories to be heard across the entire company.

Pivots like this don’t happen successfully without the thoughtfulness and strategic insights of a powerful corporate communications team like the one at Pembina. Each step of the way, the “table” had events + comms seated at it, voicing different perspectives each elements would have the employee expeirence.

Because of this, the new approach was dynamic, thoughtful, and a right-sized experience full of Pembina heart.

Shout out to the Pembina corporate communications team and their leadership for letting us be a part of their incredible ideas and thank you for leading the way on using the dynamic super duo of communications + events!

The Alberta Business Hall of Fame Awards honours the most esteemed business leaders across every sector in Southern Alberta for their life achievements and service to the economy, community and our future.

It was our pleasure to support the JA Southern Alberta team on bringing the Alberta Business Hall of Fame Awards powered by ATB to life on November 5th in the brand new Champions Ballroom. What an incredible project to be a part of and we thank the entire JA Southern Alberta leadership team for asking us to be involved!

Over 1000 top tier business people attended to celebrate the achievements of this year’s incredible laureates: Susan Anderson, Mike Broadfoot and Brett Wilson and young innovator Hanif Joshaghani.

Our city and province is better for the achievements of laureates like these and for the hard work and dedicated of organizations like JA Southern Alberta. Congratulations!

Well, that worked out nicely! 🚀🌟

We are always so grateful to be given a seat at the table for strategic discussions about internal events. This project, the Pembina Employee Townhall & RISE Awards, is a great showcase of corporate clients engaging their strategic partners through each step of their decision making, and the powerful results that can create.

Here’s what we’ve been up to with them:

For the past few years, we’ve been supporting Pembina Pipeline on boosting their employee engagement through a strategic recognition program. The RISE Awards were born in 2022 as a best in class annual recognition program culminating in a beautiful awards gala where Pembina’s brightest employees came together to celebrate achievements alongside senior leaders and Officers.

With a few RISE awards under our belt, earlier this year the team took a step back and pondered:
❓What would happen if we opened the door to RISE to more than those being celebrated?
❓ What if we used it as an opportunity to ignite greatness across our entire employee base?

In partnership with the Pembina corporate communications team, a new strategy came to life in the spirit of allowing more Pembina employees to be inspired by the RISE awards, the finalists, the winners and their stories.

We pivoted away from a stand-alone gala and embedded the awards celebration into the annual employee townhall, enabling 1000+ employees in-person and hundreds of employees online to enjoy and celebrate together. In an effort to ensure this year’s RISE award finalists and winners felt just as special as those who attended a gala, we embedded a thoughtful VIP luncheon prior to the town hall and awards ceremony, offering a unique opportunity for connection.

Huge 🔊 shout out 🔊 to Pembina’s corporate communications team, who are the hearts and souls behind Pembina’s employee experience. We love collaborating with strategic thinkers who lead with their heads and their hearts every step of the way!

🎺 “Trumpets signify a call to arms, inviting us to join a crusade with a triumphant victory song against the enemy.”

Trumpets flared throughout the OWN.Cancer campaign close event in September, honouring the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Center and a historic fundraising campaign that would soon help Canadians fight their battles with cutting edge treatments.

When asked to bring together an event for top donors, OWN.Cancer cabinet members and key partners, we were truly honoured. As we share more about the event experience here, our team would like to thank all of the AHS staff and leaders who helped bring this to life and for their tireless and dedicated efforts.

We knew the event needed to be elegant and regal in nature, without being too “over the top” despite the high net worth attendees. The aesthetics and design of the event were led by our partners at OneWest Events, inspired by the image of both a bell and a trumpet, utilizing elegant gold and bronze anchored on rich black surfaces throughout. All parts of the event were brought to life with modern greenery and elegant cream florals.

A 100’ long black carpet and OWN.Cancer gratitude messaging punctuated the exterior of the building as guests arrived. Inside, a reception format event awaited, with furniture pods, communal seating and perch points designed to offer choice for the high calibre guests. A custom menu designed by Chef de Cuisine of Hotel Arts was ‘traditional but inspired’ including bite-sized passed canapes, a chef-attended charcuterie bar and salt-cured tuna bowls. A fully wrapped, branded stage hosted important remarks for the evening.

The event was punctuated with a surprise performance by Order of Canada winning performer, Jens Lindemann. Additional trumpeters popped up on mini stages to sound the antiphonal call of triumphant victory as we led into an emotional campaign close tribute video.

The evening’s most triumphant moment was the announcement of a final gift of an astounding $30 million dollars from the Owerko family and the Campaign Co-Chairs announcing the total funds raised by the OWN.Cancer campaign and donors of an unprecedented $298 million dollars!
