💛 We were deeply honoured to be a part of OWN.Cancer in our own small way.⁣

A new era of cancer care has officially begun in Alberta as the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre is now open. ⁣

Following a long fundraising campaign called OWN.Cancer, focused on building support to expand innovation and research in cancer care and treatment, the campaign closed this fall at over $293MM raised. 🤯 This included a historic $50MM donation from the Arthur J.E. Child Foundation, the largest gift to cancer care and research in Alberta’s history. ⁣

Our team was honoured to be asked to work with the key partners (Alberta Cancer Foundation, University of Calgary, and Alberta Health Services), alongside the incomparable OWN.Cancer campaign co-chairs, to bring together key donors, supporters and dignitaries to announce total funds raised and punctuate this new era in cancer care.⁣

We are excited to share more about this one of a kind event, and the incredible people behind the Arthur J.E. Child, very soon. ⁣

Our heartfelt thanks go to the working team and campaign leaders for including us, and for making a more hopeful future for so many people. ⁣

Throwback to one of our all time favourite events! ⁠

In the height of the pandemic, our clients at asked us to help them launch their historic rebrand to their employees. With the stakes high and event restrictions tight, we partnered up with our friends and colleagues at to bring this unique drive-through activation and province wide roadshow to life. ⁠

In Calgary, a drive-around experience peppered with live entertainment, DJ tunes and an in-vehicle photo opp culminated in a 200’+ immersive experience with a robotic LED lighting tunnel and a customized box of branded goodies to commemorate the occasion. ⁠

Around Alberta, OneWest’s incredible team brought a unique parking lot experience to each employee, offering cF’s people the chance to “meet” the brand for the first time in a decked out, branded vehicle.⁠

We continue to be proud of our colletive safety management of this project and have loved watching the connectFirst brand flourish in the marketplace ever since. ⁠

Accessibility within events is no longer a goal. It should be a guarantee; a given, matched by our desire to foster belonging, to create spaces where everyone can participate fully and authentically. ⁠

With more than 1B people on the planet who are affected by disabilities and impairments, event producers and client brands have a responsibility to ensure every individual is considered and often this takes investment. ⁠

Whether you are designing to consider visual, hearing, motor or cognitive abilities, here are some key strategies for 2024:⁠

👉 Digital Accessibility: Ensure all event platforms and materials are accessible, including websites and mobile apps that comply with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Use screen readers and provide alternatives to digital content.⁠

👉 Physical Accessibility: Consider the layout of venues, such as the spacing between tables, the availability of quiet rooms and private spaces for new parents in attendance. Accessibility should be embedded into your physical plans.⁠

👉 Inclusive Programming: Offer diverse programming that caters to different interests and needs, including sessions with sign language interpreters, captioning services, and materials available in Braille if required. The real test is to integrate these options when no one has requested them, making them more readily available without demand. ⁠

👉 Sensory Considerations: Be mindful of attendees with sensory sensitivities. Offer options to participate in a way that suits them best, whether through live streaming for those who prefer not to be in crowded spaces or by providing detailed descriptions for visually impaired attendees.⁠

👉 Feedback Loops: Create channels for feedback on accessibility before, during, and after the event. This can help identify overlooked areas and improve future events.⁠

Your strategic event management partner turns every $1 spend on an event, into $2+ of value, for an ROI of over 100%. Here’s how: ⁠

Imagine your event budget. It lists proposed expenses that match the design and overall strategy tailored to the expected guest count, and a description of what we get for each expense. ⁠

Its a very linear, list-like way to seeing the event plan on a page, before you add in all the nuance, negotiation, give-and-take nature of producing and building an event. ⁠

We’re proud to officially announce that Owner & Executive Events Producer of Brand Alive, Lisa Marks, has been appointed to the judges panel for the Canadian Event Awards by ! ⁠

Some industry award programs have a relatively straightforward judging process, primarily because the criteria for submissions are not particularly comprehensive.

However, this is not the case with the Canadian Event Awards. ⁠

They pose challenging questions to every participant, and each category features a rigorous set of criteria that must be met and against which submissions are judged. ⁠

Each and every candidate is so impressive and it takes a lot of diligence and attention to detail to pick the winners. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on May 8th! ⁠
