Wondering where to walk when the days are grey and wet? Stick to the concrete and walk over Shasta Dam, the second largest concrete dam in the United States. Take in the amazing lake views on this 1.4 mile out-and-back walk. If there is a break in the clouds, maybe you can see the fresh snow-covered Mt. Shasta! The dam crest is closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Had a GREAT day at the 10th annual Shasta County Office of Education STEM Career Day where 1100 freshmen from eight surrounding counties come to learn about careers in the STEM field. Huge thank you to Sierra Pacific Industries, Redding Electric Utility - REU, Glenn 2 Greatness, Reach Higher Shasta and all our sponsors for helping show our students what great opportunities there are in STEM! This year theme was space so while students are being welcomed they are rocking out to Third Rock Radio powered by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Artists Sunday was created in 2020 to encourage people to shop for local art or arts experiences as gifts during the holidays. Viva has joined many communities to come together for the third year to call attention to local artists and arts experiences this holiday season. Communities from coast-to-coast, large and small, are celebrating Artists Sunday on Nov 26, 2023 by highlighting local artists, creators and makers; promoting the giving of artistic items and experiences for the holidays. Over the next few weeks we will be highlighting downtown arts businesses that will make your season bright.
