HIRING IMMEDIATELY FOR UPCOMING SUMMER POSITION

-JOB OVERVIEW-

An Assistant Chef (or higher) OR promising Intern/Apprentice to join our team for a summer-long personal chef assignment at a very large private family ranch. Rapid opportunities for advancement.

-ASSIGNMENT DATES-
- Tuesdays through Saturdays May 24, 2024, through September 4, 2024.
- Three Sundays, May 27, Sunday July 7, and Sunday September 1, 2024.

-COMPENSATION & BENEFITS-
- $500 to $800 per week, depending on experience.
- Free generous housing right on site with wi-fi, cable, laundry, your own private room, etc.
- Mileage reimbursement.
- The opportunity to learn alongside a well-traveled and mentoring-minded top chef, educator, and cultural and food anthropologist.

-REQUIREMENTS-
- One or more years of kitchen experience preferred via experience or culinary school OR strong aptitude and desire from life experiences such that the applicant would make a promising internship/apprenticeship candidate. Reasonably related experience is considered.

- Able to make a FULLY FIRM commitment for the ENTIRE duration of the assignment dates.
- Able to frequently lift ~20 pounds and occasionally ~50 pounds.
-A reliable and insured vehicle.

Northwoods Catering is a family-owned caterer with over 30 years of well-travelled culinary experience. Now located in central Wisconsin, we serve the entire state and surrounding multi-state area. Our culinary repertoire expertly spans the cuisines of the world plus all of the local favorites at a level above-and-beyond. Our events range from elegant formal plated dining with professional waitstaff to self-serve buffets and sometimes backyard BBQs or parties.

COVID-19 SAFETY:
We stringently follow COVID-19 safety protocols and only accept events where clients have contractually obligated themselves and their guests to do the same. See our website for our COVID-19 safety protocols.

REQUIRED TRAITS:
Substantial culinary skills.

DESIRED TRAITS
- Broad versatility of chef staff skills across stations
- Elegant formal dining plating/food art skills
- Wait Staff experience
- Management experience

EDUCATION
Minimum two-year culinary degree OR comparable experience. We will also consider culinary students or otherwise promising people as paid interns that we will help train.

PAY
Based upon education/experience and interview. We offer top-notch pay as a baseline, generous nightly bonuses for high performance, paid travel and hotel for out-of-area events, and routine on-the-job high-yield training.

BENEFITS
We are constantly on the lookout for promising people we can bring in as ongoing members of our team. We generously give performance bonuses for top performers at the conclusion of each event. Pay is in cash at the end of each event. We enjoy writing detailed letters of recommendation and/or reviews for top employees.

We did a private chef event this past Monday: shrimp ceviche with handmade tortilla chips, Ahi tuna tacos marinated with salsa "black-red magic" matcha served with corn tortillas and all the possible sides and toppings, and caramelized plantains with gourmet ice cream and champurrado (spiced Mexican hot chocolate thickened with masa) beverage.

Our culinary repertoire spans the globe including some dishes you may have never thought of. This is Trinidad & Tobago Goat and Red Lentil Curry. The flavor is just divine and carries a little kick from habanero pepper.

We source organic goat from a halal grocer in Milwaukee. This goat was more mild than lamb...super delish!
