In the year 1263, that is 32 years after Saint Anthony's death, when his tomb was opened in order to transfer his blessed remains to a new sanctuary a marvel was discovered.

Though his flesh had fallen to dust, his tongue remained fresh and ruddy like that of a living person!

It was on this occasion that Saint Bonaventure taking the tongue of the Saint in his hands, uttered the words which now constitute the antiphon preceding the Miraculous Responsory:

"O blessed tongue that never ceased to praise GOD and always taught others to bless Him, now we plainly see how precious thou art in His sight !"

That day no one who invoked the aid of the Saint went without obtaining relief

From then people consecrated Tuesday to the honor of the Saint as they believed that one can obtain on this day whatever is asked of GOD through him

Countless miracles are witnessed through his powerful intercession ever since!
