The most stunning walled gardens I have ever visited 🌸
A busy day ahead getting ready for tomorrows Plant Fair
We have a good mix of stalls from Morton Hall Nursery, Summerfield, Askeys, Hartside and Dark Star Plants every bodies favourites and nurseries that have supported the Plant Fair for many years. New for this year are Cliff Bank Nursery, owner Ben Preston trained at Great Dixter and was head gardener at York Gate garden for 5 years so no doubt will have some unusual plants to offer, Hettie Huntley who trained at Beth Chatto’s garden, Chris Parsons with unusual woodland plants, Anna Hunton a talented local florist bringing hand tied bouquets and arrangements and Braithwaites a family run nursery at Leeming Bar.
To compliment the beautiful perennials, shrubs, alpines, climbers, succulents and trees, we have Janet Orme botanical artist another great supporter of the Plant Fair with her beautiful cards, mugs and table mats and Luke Seddon with an array of garden sundries to enhance any garden and not forgetting Laura Foster with her large range of hanging baskets and pots.
There really is something for everybody as well as your chance to have a wander around the gardens at Thornton Hall.
The Plant Fair runs from 10am - 4pm.
Please remember to bring some cash as not all the stall holders have a card machine.
David and Davina Lovegreen will be looking after us as usual with their delicious hot and cold sandwiches, salads and many sweet homemade treats all served in the Bowes Tearoom
