Work in progress: Fae Captain's alternate waistcoat. Peacock feather is for reference, I will be painting the fabric's spots after cutting the lining. Outer pieces and the facings are cut and serged all around to keep the edges from raveling wildly with handling.

Progress continues on the Fae Captain! Black matelasse waistcoat with velvet collar and Czech glass buttons with gold highlights and an inset rhinestone. Two working pockets, of course! Velvet frock coat is next.

How to Tuesday: costumes and chemistry. Yesterday side quest: if your project fabric is dry clean only and you need adhesive, you must READ ALL THE LABELS. Machine washable is not = dry cleanable due to the solvents used in the process. Pictured: 3rd store's shelves with the ONE dry cleanable option available locally in store. Your input needed! I am brainstorming how to navigate my business communication requirements, balanced with making orders as a one person shop. I just made a new custom order Google form to hopefully cut back on having to ask repeatedly to get an answer (i.e. deadline and budget). What about a YouTube live stream 1x a week for your questions? I can't keep doing the expected level of 25-30 hours a week of communications and also have the needed hours for pattern drafting, cutting, creating, dyeing, embellishing, office data entry/accounting, shipping, researching and ordering materials, etc. Materials costs have increased for reasonably durable goods, and the only way I can see to help keep your costs down is to reduce the communications time and focus on people who are serious about placing or have placed an order.

A recently completed custom ordered pirate costume. A brown tweed wool pirate frock coat with wooden buttons is shown over a weathered looking linen vest made from blue and cream interwoven threads and fastened with silver metal buttons. White tone on tone striped cotton rev war era style shirt cuff ruffles peek out of the coat sleeve ends. A multicolored long linen sash is wrapped multiple times around the waist and is topped with a brown belt and a black belt with large buckles. In the background, button fly historical style trousers draped over the screen since George the mannequin has a pole in the way. A weathered mid tone brown leather baldric drapes diagonally across the coat, completing the look.
