Thysha M. Shabazz has worked in the media industry for over seventeen years in various fields from television production, journalism, event managment to public and media relations. She began her career as a teen writer for her hometown newspaper The Virginian-Pilot. As a teenager Thysha was interviewing celebrities like R&B sensations Tyreese and Nicole Ray. Formally a freelance writer and segment reporter Shabazz gained golden experience at Noelle-Elaine Media, Inc. where she worked on senior accounts for L’Oreal’s Soft Sheen-Carson and actor Chris Tucker. In 2006 Thysha formed Shabazz Communications, with just a few clients in tow such as Bre Scullark from America's Next Top Model. Since 2006 the company has represented over 250 clients in the fields of arts, culture, music, cinema, entertainment, theater, business, education and more.

As the year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and collaboration. It’s been a wonderful year at The Shabazz Team, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

Whether you’re celebrating with family, friends, or taking time for yourself, we hope this holiday season brings you peace, joy, and moments of rest. It’s a time to reflect on the good things in life and look forward to all the new opportunities that lie ahead.

This year, we’ve achieved so much together—from expanding our team to working with the country’s leading arts institutions and simultaneously building salons in our communities.

These accomplishments wouldn’t have been possible without your work and belief in our efforts. For that, we are deeply grateful.

“It is an honor for Harlem Needle Arts (HNA) to be selected to bring to life the vision of lead curator Dr. Jessica B. Harris. This momentous exhibition is a recipe for the past with legacy of the future.

As the country grapples with the erasure of Black life in America, the exhibition is a testament to the countless contributions that Africans/Americans have made to the landscape of not only this country but to the world,” states Harlem Needle Arts Executive Director, Michelle Bishop, she adds, I am indeed blessed to champion this project and have the opportunity to work with three of the most talented visionaries in quilt art and textile storytelling, Laura R. Gadson, Sylvia Hernandez and Ife Felix.
