Sometimes, I just need a little tea and a good view of my plants to refocus.
Let me explain. Once a photo session is over.... once the laughter and silly dancing are all done... I have to EDIT. Most of the time, this part is easy and just flows with my playlist. Other times, my creative spirit is just, well floating. I'm thinking of a million things- plans for my next session, updating my website, answering inquiries, and my often forgotten social media plans.
When all that noise happens, the easiest way to turn the volume down is spending a quiet moment with my plants, and boy, do I have a lot of them.
So that's where you've found me today. Sipping a little tea from one if my favorite planty cups, staring out at the sunshine, with a view of my plants while I let a gallery process like my creative brain.
Don't worry, I won't be here long, but while I'm here, I'll share a little bit of my sunshine with you.

In all seriousness, if we're scheduled for the beach, I keep a bag on hand with all the extras (clothes, towel, baby powder, etc) just in case our photos lead us to the water!
I'm always working, even when I'm waiting on the teenager.

Teenagers can be a lot of things, especially, sweet and adorable! I loved working with these two as they went to as non-seniors. They looked stunning and I know they had a blast!

Another great Mother's day is on the books. Celebrated with a peaceful day of Netflix, junk food, and flowers from my youngster.
I can't help to reflect though. On all the ways we mother. All the hugs, smiles, and snuggles. All the faces we make when we're happy, surprised, or even disappointed. On all the energy and willpower it takes to be a Mom.
So however you Mom today, I pray it was done with love; for yourself and your offspring.

I finished my taxes this weekend (yes, I know i ✂️ it really close to the deadline. Don't judge 😅)
So, as a reward, I grabbed an Americano ☕️ and visited one of my favorite locations for sessions...
Although it's on the city edge right near the hustle that marks the end of main street, it has a ton of natural beauty. The pond is full of turtles, ducks, and other birds flitting around. There's vocal squirrels chasing each other in the dancing trees, but best of all, there's a walking path that encircles all of this, with tons of places to enjoy the sweetest moments.

Maybe I can't help it. With a name like Demetria (like the Greek goddess Demeter), how can I not love the time of new life, growth, and re-birth.

Hey there! I’m Dee, the face behind the camera of Deme Star Photography. Growing up, I loved going through the pictures in photo albums when we visited family. We moved around a lot (Go NAVY!) so holidays were always super special because not only did I get to see my family and flip through the pages of our family memories, we always made more. The laughter and togetherness always stayed with me.
For a few years, I worked in retail photography. First as a studio photographer, but ending as a district manager with 7 stores under my watch. No matter the location, I always made sure customer satisfaction was a top priority! I took a break from photography for a while and after receiving the gift of the most AMAZING kid ever (maybe I’m biased, maybe I’m not), remembered that warm, fuzzy feeling I get when the genuine moments are in front of my lens. That’s the feeling I strive to give.
I want you to see yourself in all the sweet embraces, the sincere looks of love, and the belly shaking laughter. Most importantly, I want your photo shoot to be fun. Having your picture taken should be an easy task that includes jokes, funny faces, and be an overall good time. You should feel like you’re photographer is a close friend catching you and your loved ones enjoying life with each other. I thrive on creating that atmosphere. In fact, it’s my favorite way to get the images that really show your spark! Not only do I want to make great images with you, I want you to LOVE them and feel that they truly reflect who you are.
When I’m not at a shoot (or editing images and responding to emails), I’m fulfilling my momma duties to a super smart, exciting pre-teen who loves science and FortNite as well as a sassy, fluffy pup. You can also find me at the beach embracing the sun, admiring the stars on clear nights, surfing through comic bins, or watching the latest Disney/Pixar (yes, I cry at EVERY ONE), Star Wars or Marvel movie. These and my love of great coffee, dance fitness (Zumba or Mixxed Fit anyone?), sarcasm, and puns keeps me young.
