This is interesting. Academic studies into music and memory are being conducted by Durham University, including the phenomenon of songs getting ‘stuck’ in one’s head, also known as earworms! A common complaint this time of year!

Associate Professor Kelly Jakubowski studies the songs that run through our heads to establish why they’re there, and what can be done about them.

HAPPY MONDAY! It's well-known that singing has been shown to improve our sense of happiness and wellbeing. Improved mood probably in part comes directly from the release of positive neurochemicals such as β-endorphin, dopamine and serotonin and it is also likely to be influenced by changes in our sense of social closeness with others. All excellent reasons then to join a community choir!
