The stage building and courtyard are coming along. The green room, above the stage, for bands, and performers to relax and get ready will be an unexpected Wow! It may be the coolest room in town when we are done.

Before and after. These giant wall scones adorn the stage walls. They have come so far with the help of Rhodes Enterprises, Boulevard Glass. and our volunteer hours. They are beautiful lit.

What a difference United Way and their donors have made.
We started in earnest with a $50,000 from United Way in 2019. We are getting closer. Thank you everyone that has contributed.

Another good week on the project thanks to Kouts and Son and everyone that has supported this project. We had two traveling country artists, who’s jaws dropped, stop in this week to check out the venue. We are starting a list of artists that want to play the first concert someday.

We are so excited to no longer have to say…”ok, you have to imagine the whole stage building here…”

The stage building with the stage, proscenium opening for the screen, green rooms and storage rooms are coming together.

Our goal was to be open last October so we are happy to be making great progress. Check out where we started in the past photo.

Thank you metal craftsman Mike Rhodes at Rhodes Enterprises for the help. We are painstakingly recreating the Safford Theatre in some cases from scratch. The best part of this 1 minute video is the view of the theatre when we began at the end.

Our stage building is headed skyward this week! Thank you all for your support.

Yesterday we lost our friend, expert carpenter and contractor on the project. Jason Kouts who is also the Mayor of Safford had made this not just a project but a labor of love. We don’t have a set of plans we were just moving forward and figuring it out and Jason was the best with that ambiguity. You’ll never meet another guy who so loved his hometown and Downtown Safford. We appreciate all your work Jason and crew and we will miss all our chances to work together. Thank you !!
Jason’s services are to be held Saturday February 3rd at the Safford High School Center for the Arts at 6pm.
