Yet another great live music venue under threat. 😡

to Amalgam at Jazz 825 for the 2023 Southend Jazz Festival.

Current planning applications for the space above The Royal hotel may well put an end to this great music venue and put the future of this long-standing jazz club at risk!

Can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I made this show for the mighty JazzBites Radio.

It was a lot of fun pulling it all together and some cracking tunes in there, if you fancy (another) listen!

A Jazz Bites Radio special, celebrating the love affair between jazz and musical theatre. Featuring Broadway classics, performed by greats such as Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald, as well as new 'Jazzifications' of classic showtimes from the likes of Jamie Cullum, Jacob Collier and Liane Carroll.

4 years ago, I had the (seemingly ridiculous) idea to launch a brand new Jazz Festival, with no experience and even less money!

Fast forward to 2023, through a pandemic, some really hard knocks, some wonderful new friendships, countless Arts Funding applications (some actually successful!) dozens of bands, 200-odd musicians many more grey hairs…..

….the 4th Southend Jazz Festival starts TODAY!

It’s the biggest one yet! So if you’re anywhere near the South East of Essex this week, then take a look at what’s going on. It would be lovely to see you there! 🎉

A wonderful afternoon at Pizza Express Jazz Soho watching the utterly brilliant Pixie & the Gypsies - thank you so much for the invite!

Now, there’s not much I can say about this very special band that I haven’t already said before. So, I’ll leave it at this…

If you are a promoter, a venue owner or you book for a festival and you are not booking Pixie & The Gypsies, then you are REALLY missing a trick!

I have seen them countless times now. I have personally booked them 4 times. They have completely sold out twice. I booked them in a support spot and could NOT keep up with the album sales in the interval!!

Pixie & The Gypsies are the ultimate “feel-good” band, but that still doesn’t do them justice. Their original material is exceptional and their covers are very clever. The joy they fill the room with is utterly infectious and everyone falls in love with them the first time they hear them!

They brought the house down (yet again) at a PACKED PE Express Soho today.

Stop dilly-dallying and book this band.

Thank me later! 👍🏼🧚‍♀️

Such a great night with Pete Horsfall at Annie’s Jazz, Southend.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Annie to bring a range of great artists to the City over the last year, or so, and it’s always so great to see them getting the same brilliant reception that we got lost night!

The last year has been quite a busy one!

I’ve really missed the Podcast and radio shows, but there just hasn’t been time due to a real focus on live music.

In addition to running Southend Jazz Festival, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredible artists, some of whom are shown below.
