CBC's Pathway Home™ has been awarded the Impact Prize from Foothold Technology for the innovative use of Foothold’s Electronic Health Record ( ) product, AWARDS. CBC's application was selected for going above and beyond in using AWARDS to clear business bottlenecks, while also improving the lives of the members they serve. Pathway Home™ demonstrated some of the most creative ways to use AWARDS through: streamlining data collection and reporting, using data to drive trainings and clinical staff support, increasing quality oversight, and well-informed decision making on staff trainings and clinical consultations for member support. Identifying and targeting interventions for members, and easily sharing data has been made possible through this collaboration with Foothold Technology.

Governor Kathy Hochul's Safe Option Support outreach teams have helped find "bed placements" for 150 homeless individuals living in the subways in their first six months of operation, according to the New York State Office of Mental Health.

The SOS teams are made up of medical professionals, social workers, and other service providers, and intended to work with city agencies to find placements and wraparound services for homeless individuals. A majority of the teams, which are administered by Coordinated Behavioral Care, a nonprofit contracted by the state’s Office of Mental Health (OMH), operate in Manhattan, with others in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. CBC is proud to support the Governor in finding solutions for people who are homeless.

"Employees are more than their productivity."

HR/workforce policies must sustain the whole person. At CBC, we’re practicing this by investing in our workforce and supporting our network to do the same.

CBC TI Director Emily Grossman shares her experience with leadership at CBC, and how they supported Grossman's mental health to allow her time to take necessary medical leave.

NYS's is essential to public health.

CBC ensures that the behavioral health workforce is materially supported and well-informed in challenging times. Last year, we hosted Covid-19 Town Halls with nationally renowned epidemiologists in which providers could ask questions about infectious disease, personal protective equipment, vaccines and herd immunity.

That series resulted in a research study, recently published in Behavioral Health News. The findings have important implications for this specific workforce as a line of first defense to stem the tide of .

The article documents the high value of behavioral health professionals as an accessible source of timely and accurate information during public health emergencies. Notably, behavioral health service recipients have a high rate of confidence and trust in their providers, who are also frequently their primary connections to healthcare.

Bravo City and State NY for assembling an inspirational "Healthy New York Summit" on Wednesday.

"Thanks to City & State for consistently bringing behavioral health into the discussion underscoring there is no health without mental health. We have an urgent opportunity to transform systems of care by building more trust and collaboration across multiple sectors, inclusive of individual, family and community voices. CBC looks forward to working with payors in pursuit of excellent value-based care."

Another peer-reviewed journal has published a study on CBC's signature program Pathway Home™!

"The Effect of Time Spent With Participants on Program Outcomes" explores associations between the amount of time Pathway Home™ staff spend with participants in the initial three months of enrollment and their attendance at a behavioral health appointment following return to the community and eventual disenrollment outcomes.

We're closing out this year's with a final fact on local drug use among youth—the National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics reports that New York teens are more likely to abuse alcohol and young adults are more likely to abuse drugs than national averages. At CBC, we firmly believe prevention is essential and recovery is possible!

CBC's Health Home offers care management services to this population citywide and in adjacent Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties. Nearly 2000 vulnerable teenage youth and over 1000 young adults are current CBC Health Home members, and this population receives linkage services to various SUD preventive and supportive programming through Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) and Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS), as needed. Our Health Home care management agencies are also equipped to connect youth and their families to Youth Peer and Family Supports programs, as well as Respite Services to help offer acute substance use support and family-centered solutions.

Today's fact and resource: new national data show that in recent years more adolescent girls are reporting alcohol use and binge drinking than boys. This runs counter to historic data in which underage drinking behaviors have skewed male.

Accordingly, SAMHSA has authored a new fact sheet that puts this worrying trend into context and incorporates links to learn more about federal initiatives and resources that address underage drinking and alcohol use by young adults. Chief among these is SAMHSA's own "Talk. They Hear You" substance use prevention campaign, which can help parents and caregivers start talking with their children early about the dangers of alcohol and other drugs.

Today's fact: Did you know NYC recently opened the nation's first safe injection sites? The Associated Press reports that in just three months, the sites in upper Manhattan’s East Harlem and Washington Heights neighborhoods have halted more than 150 overdoses during about 9,500 visits—many of them repeat visits from some 800 people in all.

In February, we were delighted to include Washington Heights CORNER Project's Director of Programs Kailin See—who is quoted in the AP article—on a panel discussion in which opioid use disorder providers assessed current and novel paradigms for substance use treatment, prevention and recovery services here in NYC.
