🏆 HATA Awards 2023 🏆
We have had one student, who for the last 2 years has been the only one studying Food and Beverage Operations and Hospitality Operations at level 7. Much of the delivery was integrated with other classes, but assessments were all different. It is a hard slog when you have no one to bounce ideas off, but from starting at college 4 years ago and saying she hated front of house 😂🤷‍♀️, to continuing her studies through Covid, to finishing with an HNC in Hospitality Operations we had to recognise Lynsey Walker - its a huge achievement doing this on your own! Well done 👏👏 UHI Moray

GOING BACK TO HIS ROOTS...

We're huge advocates of training and passing skills on, trying to develop the future of the hospitality industry and share insights to people interested in hotels and restaurants as a vocation.

Our Executive Chef Alan Clarke is an alumni of the Hospitality and Tourism Academy at HATA UHI Moray. After graduating, he went on to work in some of Scotland's finest hotels and restaurants, including the much lauded Three Chimneys in Skye before arriving at Meldrum as our talented Executive Chef.

So, he's heading back to his original roots and will be creating the main course for a Gala Dinner at the College at the end of March where he will be cooking alongside other alumni that the College are rightly proud of.

Katalin Urquhart - Dessert
Katalin is owner and founder of Torta by Katalin a boutique bakery business based in the North-East of Scotland. The business specialises in high end bakes including Wedding cakes and French Patisserie products.
Katalin opened Torta by Katalin during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 when she finished her studies at the Hospitality and Tourism Academy, UHI Moray, and her first coffee house in April 2022 based in the beautiful coastal village of Findhorn.
She is looking forward to supporting us at the Gala dinner on Thursday 30th March.

Alan Clark – Main Course
Aged 31 and alumni of the Hospitality and Tourism Academy, Alan has gone onto win Chefs UK Accor Challenge Award for Britain aged just 21. He is currently Executive Chef at Meldrum House Country Hotel. Prior to joining Meldrum House, Alan has gained experience around Scotland working in high quality establishments such as the Three Chimneys, Skye, Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen and Living Room, Edinburgh and Three Chimneys, Skye, where he helped them retain their 3 AA Rosettes. He favours using Scottish produce with a French twist. We can’t wait to see what he will be bringing to the menu at the Gala dinner on Thursday 30th March.
