We were so excited to have Joseph Coelho join us Saturday afternoon prior to his Norwich Book Festival appearance today.

We chatted poetry, picture books and pals in common. And of course he signed all your dedication requests. A hyperlapse of which will be on his instagram so look out for that.

Meanwhile Sally, Ben and Kim took turns running book themed workshops at the Festival. Which was a joy to be involved in. I loved seeing so many Norwich Creatives in The Forum, Norwich .

Bit of a trek to reach our friends Red Lion Books in Colchester but totally worth it to chat to HarperCollins Publishers UK and find out about their new imprint Akan books.

Oh... and we only had dinner with Laura Ellen Anderson! Who is an absolute joy to be with.

This bookshop life doesn't bring riches but it certainly makes our lives richer

We have signs up, we have play copies, we have toys, trains and teddies. Accidents happen, books get dropped, pages folded and even eaten and we can absorb this in favour of keeping our hands on approach but this destruction of a book in the shop isn't an accident and has been done with an adult. I'm sure it's done out of a misunderstanding of what we are but we can only stay open if we can sell the books.

We can't now sell this book.

So if you're unsure, please ask. We can show you where our play copies are or entertain your children another way.

This is just to get the message out to people who don't realise the cost we incure when the books get ruined. A tiny minority but I couldn't think of another way to say it. 99.99% of you are lovely thoughtful people.

Whoever it was, left a lovely creative farmyard scene on the floor and put the book back on the shelf.

I sent this little over enthusiastic email out about the new The Fan Brothers Quarto Kids Frances Lincoln Children's Books Book to everyone who'd bought one of their books before from us (There were a LOT of you!)

But lets share that love here too, just in case you discovered the wonders of the Fan Brothers elsewhere.

Barnaby is here, he's super cute and off on an adventure. This long form picture book is perfect for ages 4-7 I'd say. Or if you just love a good picture book like me.

A terrible bookseller confession but there are very few authors that I've read even more than one of the books they've written yet alone everything they've written. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one exception so this announcement yesterday caused much excitement!
If you haven't read Half of a Yellow Sun, I highly recommend it, even over Purple Hibiscus.
We will, of course, have copies and will be putting in for signed ones too.

The first time was and then yesterday we listened to him tell a room packed with indie booksellers all about his upcoming autobiography 🎙 Fab day at Gardners Trade Show and looking forward to learning loads of lovely new stuff at BA Conference today 📚🐛🐉❤️
