On Saturday we went to ‘Ari-Fest’. An epic festival themed party for a 10yr old and her besties.
There was a hairbrading and glitter tent, a food tent, a photobooth and a popcorn/candy floss maker!
Not to mention us doing a fab TikTok dance party with the girls 🤩

Summer holidays are usually quiet for us as people go away (then Sep is super busy!).
So it was lovely to do this 11yr old’s party yesterday. The girls have left year 6 now, so it was especially exciting for them to meet up before the scary Secondary School transition.
We did the main dance routine to ‘Espresso’ by Sabrina Carpenter, which is a very popular song choice for our parties at the mo and has a nice summer vibe 🤩

Lots of games and fun were had in the garden. Finishing with a dance to ‘Waka Waka’ which they all knew and sang along to (sorry neighbours 🙉!)

Tiktok party time!
We are getting lots of TikTok themed party booking at the moment (like this one in the pic).
Now we know that LOTS of content on TikTok isn’t quite appropriate for younger children. So let us explain how our themed parties work…
At the booking stage, you can let us know 2 or 3 of your favourite TikTok dances that you would like to learn at your party. We then take a watch and make sure we agree with your choice and that there are no suggestive moves or lyrics in them.
We also have a list of recommended TikTok videos to choose from, if you are stuck.
When everyone is happy with the choices, we pre-learn the dances to teach at your party!
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have your own TikTok, or have never been on it yourself. They are just fun, short dances to learn. We don’t video them on the day (unless you want to). So you’ll only end up being a TikTok star if you want to upload them yourself - once we have given you our expert tuition! 🤩
Last weekend was a scorcher ☀️ So a very welcome Ice Pop was devoured in seconds by the girls and our dance party teacher!
We had fun in their pretty garden playing dance games and mastering the main routine, for the performance to parents at the end 🌟
Mila’s 8th birthday party had a Taylor Swift theme!
There were games, a bracelet making activity and lots of dance.
We choreographed a dance to ‘Blank Space’ for the main dance routine, and I think we did Taylor proud 🤩
Music video dance party!
We ran one of our special themed parties for a 10th birthday yesterday and it was super fun.
⭐️ Our music video parties are great for a smaller number of older children (up to 10 participants approx). Ages from 8yrs and upwards is perfect, as they need to stay focused for 2hrs of hard (but fun) work.
⭐️ We teach a few sections of choreography to your chosen song. Yesterday’s song was ‘Bad Blood’ by Taylor Swift.
⭐️ Once the choreo is learnt we get to the filming part….
We bring a ring light, disco lights and our tripod and camera.
⭐️ We film from lots of different angles and with different backgrops around the venue/space.
You don’t need to be anywhere fancy. Yesterday we were in a house and the foil background they put up made a brilliant backdrop for it all.
⭐️ Then we work together to get your input on some fun ideas for the music video. Yesterday we had them walking down the stairs, freestyle dancing in the garden, catwalk struts to the camera etc.
🎦 Next we will edit the video and deliver it to the client a week later in a private link. For them to pass on to all their friends and family so they can see them being a star in their very own video!
We can’t wait to see the finished video.

We love a different theme and the main dance for this party was to the South African tune of ‘Waka Waka’ - which was the theme to the World Cup in 2010
When asked why the birthday girl chose it, she said “because my Dad loves football”! I bet he was happy about that 😁⚽️
It’s also a great song to dance to, and we taught a funky dance routine with traditional African dance moves

We aim to make everyone feel relaxed and involved in our parties - whatever your experience.
We pitch the main dance routine we teach based on your level of ability. Our teachers are very experienced, so we can tweak our routines on the spot, to make them more simple or challenging, when we see you on the day. So that everyone can feel like a star at the party!

We taught a dance routine to ‘Revolting Children’ from Matilda, which was lots of fun!

Mini makeovers - what are they?
We offer these at our parties as an added activity.
They consist of eyeshadow, face glitter and a temporary tattoo (we have super cool neon or gold and silver ones).
It isn’t full on face painting.
The children do not get plastered in it, they still look their age and it’s fun for them to dress up a bit to get into the party mood!
We do them at the start of the party when the children arrive. It’s a good way for them to meet the dance party teachers and ease into the party vibe.

This Strictly man fan got all her friends into it too! So it was only fitting to have a Strictly themed dance party for her 9th birthday.
Our party teacher Krupa appeared in the recent series of Strictly, so the girls were mega impressed by that!

This is the second year of doing a party for this lovely 9yr old and all her friends. It was very noisy but loads of fun!
Great bunch of kids for an 8th birthday party - with our two energetic party teachers sparking away with the dance games and fabulous routine to ‘Boomerang’ by JoJo Siwa 🥳
Felt like a bit of a celeb at this dance party….
I was starting the warm up when the girls started doing some particular Bollywood moves which I recognised. So I asked where they had learnt that dance and they said they were doing it at school from a YouTube clip. One of them said “and the teacher looks a lot like you!”
So I got up my teaching account (my other business, Zest Dance Workshops) and showed them a few Bollywood dance tutorials which I had made during lockdown - and they shouted “YES, it’s you!!”
So their school had coincidently found my YouTube page to teach them a dance for their Cultural Day at school. The girls were starstruck suddenly 🥰 and they couldn’t wait to tell everyone at school the next day haha.
So my lockdown dance tutorials are paying off, as this is the second school where I’ve heard about them using my videos as a teaching tool - glad they can be of use and are getting children dancing🌟

A TikTok themed party for these sassy 8yr olds.
We were given 4 Tiktok dance videos in advance which the birthday girl wanted to learn. Then at the party we taught all the girls the routines which was really fun 👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️
We didn’t film the dances for Tiktok- just did it for the fun of it!
The mum was telling us what a minefield Tiktok is for children that age who want to watch it, but it’s content isn’t suitable for that age. She had to select the right videos for us to teach, and we 100% supported her. Lots of dance content on there is wayyyy to old - we want to keep children their age (there is plenty of time to grow up) and we make sure any dance material we teach is not in any way inappropriate.
We also love a half term dance party, so our weekends are free for other parties ha!
It’s a Barbie World!
The Barbie theme is going strong here at Dance Parties, with another fun one with these 10yr olds.
We started with our mini makeovers to give some pink sparkle to the girls. Then taught a routine to ‘Dance the Night’ - the No 1 requested song at the moment!
