Sabrina Potterpin founded Soigné Events LLC in 2014 to bring her extensive event planning and fundraising experience to a range of clients. As a fundraising/development specialist in the non-profit field, Sabrina has most recently led Development and Communications for The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC), the world's first child protection agency, overseeing all

fundraising to meet annual goals. She has nearly a decade of development experience in arts administration, beginning her career at The Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY and then as Director of Special Events at New York City Opera where she ran four major fundraising galas and 60 smaller events annually. In addition to her nonprofit work, Sabrina has experience planning a range of private events, including: weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, book and company launch parties, and group travel excursions. Soigné Events LLC focuses primarily on arts-related fundraising events in New York City, and other major metropolitan areas. Sabrina is a trained operatic soprano, a lover of all things cultural, and an avid runner and health enthusiast.

Dance theater company Pilobolus hosted "Full Moon at the Meadow" on Friday, July 23 as part of its five-day performance of "BLOOM: A Journey." One year ago today was the last in-person gala that I ran. It was for the , a fantastic after-school music education program for underserved children in New York City. I remember standing on the corner of Park Ave & 23rd St. when I got a notification from the NYTimes that the first case of coronavirus had been confirmed in NYC on March 1. We hosted our event the next day just before the whole world shut down.

Over the past year my work has transitioned to virtual events and the Harmony Program has transitioned to virtual lessons for their remarkable students. They have persevered through a very challenging time just like many other organizations have. Their success is due to the dedication of their teachers, the parents, the students, and the indefatigable leader they have in Anne Fitzgibbon.

I have the privilege of working with the Harmony Program again this winter and tomorrow night we will celebrate everything that they have accomplished over the past year.

Our gala program will air at harmonyprogram.org on March 3 at 6:30 PM EST. It’s just 30 minutes long. It’s free for all to view and I hope you will join us to raise a glass of your favorite beverage and toast to the good work that so many are doing throughout this pandemic. Or toast to a music educator who has positively impacted your life. Because if I’ve learned anything over this past year it’s that the arts matter and they make life a whole lot better.

Ballet dancer David Hallberg was planning to take the final bows of his performance career this year. Audiences would applaud the wunderkind onstage for the last time after witnessing him dance the principal roles of “Giselle” and “Romeo and Juliet” with the American Ballet Theatre, “Swan Lake” with the Royal Ballet, and other classical works with the Bolshoi Ballet and La Scala Theatre Ballet.

That’s not how the year played out.
