Who is M.A.J.R. Moves Chicago?

M.A.J.R. Moves Chicago is a collective of friends who came together thru the love of music - particularly soulful House music - and decided to take their friendship to a more social yet productive level.

The original acronym was simply J.A.M., which stood for “John and Mickey”, and referred to Chicagoland DJ/producers Lil’ John and Mickey Calvin. The two of them have been friends for close to 30 years, and have been working together in studios and clubs since they met.

Just recently, John and Mickey consulted with a mutual friend - Lady Alicia - about promotions and possible management. Her plate somewhat full, she in turn “nominated” Renee Sonya, a mutual friend who had already been in attendance of just about every event that featured John and/or Mickey. But she was more than just your average patron: armed with her smartphone, she began capturing video footage of the guys on the turntables over the course of the last 2-3 years, voluntarily posting them to social media all over. And since she recently earned her degree in Business Management, she was perfect for the job!

In search of a name that encompassed this new quartet, the picture above happens to feature the members in the “order” of the new acronym: M.A.J.R. (Mickey, Alicia, John, Renee)!
