🌸 Bud Vases: Why we love them and you should too!
A lot of our couples like to invest a large portion of their floral budget into a feature ceremony installation and then request greenery garlands for their reception tables, thinking this is the most affordable option. But due to the quantity and type of greenery required for loose-lay garland (we like Italian Ruscus!) and the incredible amount of labour required for structured garlands, often bud vases are the more visually impactful AND affordable option!

For the price of 3m of loose-lay greenery garland (approximately one of your guest tables) you could instead have 4-5 bud vases featuring premium blooms like roses alongside other beautiful seasonal varieties. This gives a more abundant look AND allows you to continue your floral colour scheme from ceremony to reception. Win win!

We often see ceremony pillars repurposed behind the head table, but we’re a bit obsessed with how Elise & Nik chose instead to create this cake cutting *moment* to frame their masterpiece!

8 years ago today I officially launched Gwen Floral Co! 🥹 time really flies. I was only 20 years old when I started the business and now I’m edging the 30 club. What a way to spend my 20’s 💖

In the last 8 years I’ve flowered for over 250 weddings, moved 3 times, had 28 COVID reschedules, had 1 baby, and racked up hundreds of thousands of kilometers on my car 😝 it’s been a busy and beautiful 8 years!

I still have to pinch myself that this is my job! I always loved wedding movies and going to family weddings as a little girl and never would’ve thought I’d be working in the industry. It’s actually so cool?!

Getting to dream up magical concepts for weddings, connect with the loveliest clients, work with the most beautiful fresh flowers in the world (like - how wild that I am surrounded by thousands of dollars worth of flowers on a weekly-ish basis?!) and getting to work for myself from home is just the dream.

I’m so grateful.

Thanks for being on the journey with me, friends! I can’t wait to see what the next 8 years holds 🤍

Tips For Your Bouquet Delivery - Save for later!

🌸Your bouquets will be delivered safely tucked in with protective tissue paper and sitting in water. Make sure you pop them in a cool spot out of direct sunlight to keep them looking their best!

🌸As tempting as it is, avoid touching your blooms directly as many flowers are delicate and can bruise easily.

🌸If you have a silk tie on your bouquet, try to keep it dry as water will mark and wrinkle the ribbon.

🌸When it’s time to take your bouquets out of their box, have someone use a cloth or paper towel to dry the bottom of the stems so you don’t get water marks on your outfit!

Come with Me: Market Run! 💐🩷✂️ Did you know that on a market day we have done a whole day’s work before we even start designing? My caffeine-fuelled day starts before dawn driving to multiple locations to collect your special blooms from our amazing suppliers. After loading up the car we head back to the studio to unpack, fill buckets and spend hours individually processing each stem (trimming or crushing stems, removing thorns and leaves, scalding, hydrating and refrigerating) Then finally the blooms are ready & we can start designing! 🫶🏼
