At Fox&Badge we explore costume as fantasy; a collective act of creation and culture; a psychological exploration into an archetype; a celebration of clothing, body and energy. We approach all themes with deep curiosity and respect.
Many cultures have suffered immense disrespect - tragically, foremost amongst them, the many tribes amongst the Native Americans. Their own clothing told deep stories that are deeply rich (if too complex to pithily summarise here) - and which we wish to respect and protect.

War bonnets, feathered headdresses, and other traditional Native American regalia are sacred items which are earned through acts of bravery, service, or leadership within specific Indigenous nations. Wearing them without that connection, lineage and meaningstrips away the sacredness, undermines that which is of deep value to struggling communities, and risks both ignorance and disrespect.

Though we explore its redemptive qualities, the “Wild West” theme itself unfolds against a challenging backdrop of colonisation, violence, and dispossession. For Native communities, that history is still present and living. Choosing to dress as a “Native American” character risks reinforcing stereotypes, and erasing the real people and cultures behind them.

So, unless you are part of those traditions and personally connected to that culture, we request that you please avoid wearing war bonnets or Native-American-inspired costumes. There are so many other gorgeous and playful directions to take – cowboys, seductresses, saloon characters, outlaws, showgirls, gamblers, misfits, sheriffs; pony or bovine kinksters, any number of cinematic archetypes. This is cinema’s richest genre - heaving with all kinds of crazy characters that our brief event, no matter our intention, will already struggle to do justice to. It is so much harder to do justice to those that have been so deprived of it.

There is huge complexity (and disagreement) around this topic, and the broader themes of how we interact with, celebrate and honour all the glorious cultures of this world. We will not all agree, and some of us may be deeply triggered by this, but our request aims for a foundation of loving kindness and respect, whilst still inviting everyone to unleash and go wild.

TV: If there's one thing to watch to get in the mood for our next event - it's 1883 (on Netflix in the UK).
I have absolutely LOVED this series, which came out in 2021 as the prequel to Yellowstone 3 years earlier.

It stars Sam Elliott, & country&western singers Tim McGraw & Faith Hill as the original Duttons - parents setting out for Oregon with their son, & Isabel May as their daughter Elsa - the standout heroine of the series, and narrator.

It is one of the most poetic and moving things I've seen in years, and such an intimate investigation of what it meant to be a woman at that time - and both the perils and freedoms she would find. It’s dark yet luminous, and filled with reverence and beauty. The Native American heroes break my heart (The show’s brilliant creator, Taylor Sheridan, said "I don't think there is a more misrepresented group in American cinema than the Native American. And what little I can to correct that historical perspective in fiction, I'm going to do.").

We’re delighted to finally share a little more about the wild talent of our DJ lineup at Wild West, where each artist has been carefully chosen to deliver a beautiful and inspiring journey into the frontier. Like the Wild West, they kindly blaze their trail to us from a range of countries and sensibilities, united in intention and genius. We love them all deeply, and deeply hope you will too!
—DJ Apsara (AKA Shindy Lall) opens our largest dancefloor with her signature magical blend of influences, exploring the mystery of the desert. Shindy’s long been an instrumental member of our core team, continuously helping both on setup/decor, and on our welfare and shrine guardian team, and we’re delighted she expands her contribution to fill our hearts in this way.
—DJ Love Missiles (AKA Jemma Jane Gore) then follows our midnight ceremony, ramping up the energy, mistressfully lacing techno with great strums & sounds of the West. Jemma first collaborated with us a stunning performer - sluicing herself with champagne at our 2nd ever Fox&Badge event, before leading our 1st ever troupe at Militaria; here, her exquisite set will be her great performance!
—DJ Arc (AKA Ahmet Ozkan) then flies in from Amsterdam to deepen our exploration of the synthesis between techno & country&western. His partner Mathilde Marsal is a mindblowingly virtuoso violinist, and their unique live collaboration is not to be missed! (Over the next few days we’ll also intro the other violinists, banjo players, guitarists, singers and other lush live musicians that will be playing at our rousing Campfire of Song)
—DJ VENERE (AKA Clarissa Di Bravo) then closes the night downstairs with her driving, deeply emotional storytelling, now accompanied on live guitar by fellow DJ Nicola Bergamo (in the real of cinematic westerns, the Italians have so much to teach us ;)). Stay for a very special finale moment!…

—DJ and musician Sia Moan (AKA Simone Stocker) joins us from Vienna to open our bo***ir sanctuary upstairs with a gorgeous live soundscape, generated with her unique blend of bespoke hardware, suffused with vocals and effects. Simone is also an artist, creative director and mentor - “passionate about empowering women and creating beauty in all form” (and will be playing in a space adjacent to our own healing welfare sanctuary and shrine, led by the incredible Seren Iceni).
—DJ Sacha (AKA Alexander) Yonan then plays the headline upstairs set, seamlessly transitioning from Sia Moan as we return to our roots upstairs as a pure dancefloor, uninterrupted by the music of performances, peppered only by extraordinary movement moments that erupt from the DJ music itself. Sacha also began as a musician, before breaking out as the youngest ever resident DJ at Switzerland’s D! Club, going on to play alongside industry giants; expect a hypnotic storm of organic power and beauty!
—DJ mycologist (AKA Gal Hakak) then closes the night with a deep, trippy journey into our soul and our shadow, meticulously blending a unique blend of underground sounds. Please get your sleeps in now; each of these DJs is a revelation, & it is such an honour to host them!
