Hello Appalachian Enthusiasts,
This is Shanon Rice, President of the ACDA that organizes this Mother's Day Tradition! It is a beautiful day along the river, and we look forward to seeing you this weekend at Coney Island!

I wanted to take this opportunity, on behalf of the ACDA board of trustees, to clear the air about some rumors that have been going around regarding this being the festival's last year here at the park. I am sure it has been a little confusing especially when you heard that Coney Island was sold to MEMI earlier this year. We realize the heartbreak of hearing that it closed, but I am here to tell you that Coney is not closed, it just has new owners. We are so grateful to the new owners, MEMI, for letting us come back for this weekend to keep the Appalachian Traditions alive!

Now you may ask what does the future hold for the festival? We have been through a lot in the 53 years of existence and we are excited to say we are going to continue this tradition and MEMI would be happy to have us back in 2025.

If you see anything online that says otherwise, please share this information! MEMI have been amazing to work with and I look forward to a long lasting relationship.

We want this 2024 festival to create memories that will last for a lifetime and what better place to hold those memories then along the scenic Ohio River! Bring your friends and family for knee slapping good time. We are looking forward to seeing everything this weekend!

Hello, Appalachian Festival Community

The news about Coney Island closing at the end of the year has brought up the question of what will happen to the Appalachian Festival?

Coney Island and their employees have been such a big part of the festival we cannot imagine what it is going to be like without them. We want to send out thanks and appreciation to everyone at Coney Island for all the great years! We will miss you!

However, this Mother’s Day tradition has seen many challenges from cancelations due to weather, the pandemic, and now in our 53rd year we are faced with the moving of the event. Know we are passionate about this event, and the ACDA Board is currently looking into new locations. It is going to be an exciting time to see where this journey will take the festival.
Keep an eye out for more updates after the New Year.

The ACDA Board wishes you a wonderful holiday. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to yours.
