Greta the Gremlin didn’t place but I sure learned a lot making her. Face sculpted in Clay, chest, arms, feet sculpted using wed clay, all pieces cast in latex, airbrushed with . Was so good seeing my sister and family.

Never got to finish this piece. Hate to tear it down but I need the sculpting form it’s on for another project. Maybe I’ll revisit this idea in the future. Sculpted in on the Alana head. I hope they make a half head for Alana some time.

Thinking of hiring an SFX artist for your project? I've been getting personal message from other artists, not all in SFX, but some. Someone contacts them about projects and then ghosts them when they mention payment. Here are some things you need to know about pay.

What is included in the cost of a commission?
Materials: Customer pays for all material costs.
Time/Labor: To break this down in simplest terms, customer is paying for living expenses for the artist while they work on their project. We also have bills we have to pay and if we're doing this for a living, this is how we survive. If customer is not willing to pay this, the artist will have to take on a regular job or extra commissions to fill in the financial gap.
Overhead: This is added in if the artist is working out of a secondary location, away from a home studio. Customer is paying for the rental of time in this studio, as well as utilities.

There are multiple tiers we base our calculations on with consideration of the budget of the project, etc.

The absolute worst thing you can say to an artist is: There's no pay, but it's great advertisement. Customer is essentially telling the artist they aren't worth paying.

To my friends thinking of giving up. Hang in there and don't give up. Keep posting photos and videos of your awesome work because the right set of eyes will eventually see it and things will get better.
