Fly Me Too the Moon, originally titled (In Other Words).

I have always loved this song. My mother was a big Sinatra fan and of the music of the 40s. Sinatra through his career worked with the best people in the business. His music and songs are some of the most recognized, and expands generations of people. This particular song has been a staple of JC SOUND and our Sinatra show with Chris Jago from the very beginning. Chris has always stayed true to the song, and Sinatra's style. Not altering it in any way. Every time Chris sings Sinatra, I am taken back with his accuracy in tone and style. I am proud to be able to work with him all these years. He truly brings Sinatra to life every show.

Being involved in music most of my life, I have admired Quincy Jones. He worked with so many greats including Michael Jackson and being the glue for the "We are the World" project. Think about how great you have to be, to bring all the major talent of that time together, and arrange the songs to fit everyones singing style. When we do our shows, that's what we try to do. Bring these great, popular songs to life and stay true to the original arraignments. We are the World was an anthem for our generation. AMAZING! Not many people know Quincy Jones had a big part in Fly Me To the Moon, and making it as great as it was.

1964 Quincy Jones arranged the song for the album “It Might as Well Be Swing” and changed the time signature from 3/4 time (3 beats per measure) to 4/4 time (4 beats per measure), which has become the standard for a pop, rock and pretty much all music ever since. Sinatra asked Quincy Jones for a swing re-arrangement, and of course he knocked it out of the park, doing it with the great Count Basie Orchestra. This version was associated with NASA’s Apollo Space program and became the first music heard on the Moon when Buzz Aldrin played it on a portable cassette player after he stepped onto the Moon.

The man was brilliant. RIP Quincy!

Chris is a full time firefighter and fire inspector and last Friday, his Union extended the honor of singing the National Anthem to him at the retirement party held for their recently retired members. He entered with the Honor Guard and performed this rendition! It was his first time ever performing the Star Spangled Banner in public!
