Chris is a full time firefighter and fire inspector and last Friday, his Union extended the honor of singing the National Anthem to him at the retirement party held for their recently retired members. He entered with the Honor Guard and performed this rendition! It was his first time ever performing the Star Spangled Banner in public!
Can't Take My Eyes off of You
Years ago when my father passed, I had two shows booked over the next two weeks. A Sinatra Show with Chris and an Elvis show with Joe. Both gentlemen offered to cancel the shows, but I said I needed to do them. Music helps me through the toughest times. Music is my therapy. During both shows, these guys dedicated the song "My Way" to my dad. Since then, I hear the song differently, and feel my dad with me. A couple of years ago when Chris's dad Stu passed, Chris was not able to sing the song "Mack the Knife" which was a fan favorite. We pulled it out of our set, as it was too painful for Chris to sing without his dad being part of it. That song meant so much to him, it was one his dad use to sing, and also joined in our shows to sing with Chris. At our last show, Chris leaned over to me and said, "Let's do Mack the Knife". I was shocked, but thrilled that he would consider doing it again. It was tough, but he powered through it. Last night at our show, Chris had decided to make Mack the Knife his closer for his shows as a tribute to his dad going forward. I am so proud of Chris for many reasons, but his strength to continue to sing it in his dad's memory, has made me even more proud. He is a wonderful talent and it is a great tribute to the man who got him started in music. This post and song is dedicated to the two men who are our hero's, Lou Castro Sr and Stu Jago. Missed but never forgotten. In closing, Chris's dad would come to our shows and as he walked in or as he was leaving he use to look at me, smile and say, " thanks for working with Chris and doing this show". Thank you Stu, for influencing him. It has been my pleasure to continue the show that you enjoyed so much. ❤️ I can still hear Stu harmonizing with Chris.
