✨ Make your own Candy Heart Banner with a fun dimensional twist! Here’s what you’ll need:

🎨 Supplies:
Candy Heart Banner Set from partyyourworld.com (printed on white cardstock—110lb index works great!)
Pink cardstock
Pencil ✏️
Scissors or paper cutter ✂️
Glue/ Foam tape (optional for extra dimension)

🛠️ Directions:
1️⃣ Cut one flag from the printed set (outer edge).
2️⃣ Use it as a stencil to trace onto your pink cardstock.
3️⃣ Cut flags from the cardstock.
4️⃣ Trim the printed flags on the inner design, so they’re slightly smaller.
5️⃣ Layer the printed flag onto the cardstock flag with glue or foam tape.
6️⃣ Hole punch the flags at the top corners once they’re assembled.
7️⃣ String them together—and voilà! You’ve got a custom banner to celebrate in style.

Tag your girls, grab some snacks, and make a craft night of it! 💕 Share your banners and tag us—I can’t wait to see your creations!

It’s January 14th, which means it’s OFFICIALLY Valentine’s Day season and I’m so excited to share a month full of crafting magic with you! 💌💕

This week, we’re starting with a project that’s simple, fun, and oh-so-sweet—an XOXO banner! ✂️ Whether you’re a crafting pro or just getting started, this project is perfect for everyone.

We’ll be making two versions:
📏 A medium-sized banner in two colors for a layered, playful vibe.
📏 A large, bold banner in one color for a minimalist touch.

The best part? No Cricut needed—just print, cut, string, and you’re ready to celebrate sustainably! 🌿

Slowing down and making something by hand is such a beautiful way to bring extra meaning to your celebrations. Which banner style will you try first: playful two-color or bold and simple? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Years ago, I came across the idea of choosing one word to define each year. I can’t remember where I first heard it, but the concept stuck with me. Of course, being the maximalist that I am, I couldn’t commit to just one—so I started picking three words each year to help narrow my focus.

For 2024, my words were Celebrate, Surrender, and Simplify. 🎉🙌

Celebrate: I celebrated my 40th birthday with my bestie and close friends—a reminder to embrace joy and make time for what matters.
Surrender: I went with the flow when life threw things out of my control, trusting that I could adapt and move forward.
Simplify: I let go of selling physical goods to create space for what lights me up most.
For 2025, my words are Peace, Purpose, and Prosperity. ✨

Peace: Creating calm and intention.
Purpose: Aligning my work with what feels meaningful and impactful.
Prosperity: Growing in abundance—creatively, emotionally, and sustainably.

What about you? Do you set intentions, words, or something else to guide your year? Let’s inspire each other below!

2024, you were a year of challenges, change, and unexpected pivots, but also growth and unexpected joy. 🌟
This year reminded me that sometimes, we have to let go of what no longer serves us to make space for what truly matters.

I said goodbye to some things to make space for big dreams:
🛍️ I stepped back from physical party goods to focus on graphic design and digital decor.
🎨 I started drawing regularly and shared my work (eek!).
📚 I started teaching crafts at the Simsbury Public Library and even got to sub as a librarian—a dream I never thought would come true.
And there’s so much to look forward to in 2025:
🌟 A new handmade party decor line in the works.
🎨 More art and collaborations.
🌳 Expanding (my new branding studio!).

It’s been a year of learning, and I couldn’t have done it without YOU—your support means everything. 🩷🩵

What was your biggest win this year? Let’s celebrate together in the comments!

Merry Christmas, friends! 🎄✨
Whether you’re sipping hot cocoa, tearing into presents, or just kicking back with a Christmas movie (eh-hem, Die Hard IS a Christmas movie!), I hope your day was packed with all the cozy, happy vibes.

Or if you’re celebrating Hanukkah tonight, go drink your gin and tonicah and smoke your marijuanicah. 🕎💙

Big thanks for being part of this little corner of creativity—I’m so grateful for you all. Now go eat some cookies, light some candles, and enjoy the magic of the season! 🍪🎁💚

Funny how this worked out—I drew gingerbread and Christmas cookies last week for new cookie swap decor, and then the prompt was gingerbread and joy 🎨

I turned those sketches into a festive pattern, made tent cards, and even an award for the swap (pics included 👀). Fast forward to Friday, I judged 6 delicious cookies—tough gig, but someone had to do it. 😅🍪

P.s. Check out the cookie swap banner circa 2018 that’s still going strong 6 years later.

Exciting update on my brand expansion journey! 🎉

I initially planned to let you all help me choose the name for my new brand, but sometimes the right advice comes at the right time. A trusted friend gave me incredible feedback that helped me narrow down my ideas, and I’m thrilled to announce…Great Oak Creative is the winner! 🌳✨

Why Great Oak Creative? Because it embodies key values that mean so much to me: growth, strength, and connection to nature. I also chose an abstract name so it can evolve with me, no matter where this journey takes us.

Next up: creating mood boards to explore the perfect color palette and typography to bring this brand to life—and I’d LOVE your feedback on those when the time comes! Stay tuned for a sneak peek. 👀

What’s one word you’d use to describe this name? Let me know in the comments! 💬

Bruh. The decision paralysis is real. The perfectionism was also rearing its ugly head too.

I must have messed with just the background on the “candy and crafts” prompt for an hour or two 😩 and I still don’t like it but gotta let it go.

I drew a banner a made a few years back. And I think the drawing came out great, but the layout for banners always eluded me for product photography and it continues to do so in drawing.

And since I’m trying to catch up, I’ve also got some and mugs” going on today too for

I used only white on one color to try something new. I think I like it.

Cookie swaps: the original holiday Olympics. 🍪✨

For over a decade, I’ve been heading to what my friends and I jokingly call the ‘Catalina Wine Mixer’ of cookie swaps. It’s no joke, though—judges, prizes, and bragging rights are all on the line, and trust me, the competition is fierce but fun! 🤩

This year, I’m stepping out of the kitchen and into the judge’s chair (because let’s be real—I don’t have a day to bake). Last year, I thought I could whip up a winning batch during a tiny time window, and, well... let’s just say the cookies weren’t the only thing melting down. 🎄💀

But here’s the thing: all the effort, chaos, and laughs inspired me to create digital cookie swap decor! 🎉 From printable signs to funny photo props and of course, a banner, these designs bring a little extra cheer to your swap. Plus, they’re instant downloads, so you can print them at home and focus on what matters—eating cookies. 😉

Is a cookie swap part of your holiday tradition?

I believe creating is fuel for the soul. ✨ But let’s be real—most of us feel like we don’t have the time for creativity. Between work, family, and all the ‘have-tos,’ it’s easy to let making something just for fun fall to the bottom of the list.

Here’s my theory: By creating—whether with our hands, our minds, or both—we actually gain energy for everything else. It’s like a reset button for the brain that makes the grind just a little easier.

This art challenge is my way of proving it to myself. Some days I’m squeezing in 10 minutes; other days, I lose track of time. But every time, I feel a little lighter, a little more focused, and a whole lot more connected to the things that matter.

What started as a fun, quick drawing today turned into 3 hours of being determined to turn it into an angled, brick, seamless pattern—but I got it! It’s these unexpected detours that remind me why I love creating in the first place.

So, here’s today’s first prompt “snail mail and snowflakes” in the drawing challenge. What do you think?

What’s one small way you’ll make time to create this week? 🎨💖

While we’re out preparing for Thanksgiving this weekend, let’s remember Thanksgiving is all about gratitude—and what better way to show it than by caring for our planet? 🌎💚

Here are 10 easy tips for hosting an eco-friendly Thanksgiving:
🌽 Preparation:
1️⃣ Cook just enough—guests often bring extra, so less is more!
2️⃣ Shop local and seasonal for fresh ingredients with less packaging.
3️⃣ Thrift or borrow tableware to reuse existing goods and add charm.
🍂 Decorating:
4️⃣ Use reusable tableware and cloth napkins to ditch disposables.
5️⃣ DIY your decor with printables for a personal, waste-free touch.
6️⃣ Create natural centerpieces using pumpkins, pinecones, or greenery.
7️⃣ Decorate sustainably with biodegradable or reusable materials.
♻️ Post-Dinner:
8️⃣ Use beeswax wraps or silicone lids to store leftovers.
9️⃣ Donate unopened food to shelters or offer opened food to neighbors.
🔟 Save and repurpose decorations for next year or upcycle them.
Small changes make a big impact. How are you celebrating sustainably this year? Let me know in the comments below!
