About Us

Hello and welcome! We are the proud founders of Sandía Cycling. The idea began when the two of us brought two of our greatest passions to the table - competitive cycling and clean water. Alison worked for years in high school and college with different organizations to fight global hunger and end the global water crisis. Joey has been a competitive cyclist for six years and has hosted races for three years. So somewhere in the middle Sandía Cycling was born.

Beginning officially in 2019, the USAC team Sandía Cycling will be hitting the competitive cycling scene with whoever hopes to come on board and sport the melons at mountain, road, and cyclocross races. This page is for our promotional team Watermelon on Wheels that hopes to host competitive events in the Houston area as well as encourage a growing, noncompetitive cycling community in Houston. So whether you’re a Pro/Cat 1 who likes the idea of riding with a purpose or looking to scoot around town and get papusas on a Sunday afternoon, we’ve got something for you. You don’t have to be the fastest in your field but you do have to be ready to have fun along the way.

We have high hopes that during the 2019 calendar year, the competitive cycling community will continue doing what they love alongside us so that we can come alongside Living Water International in Houston, Texas and drill a well in El Salvador.
