Loading day!!! We’ve got a busy schedule over the next few months. One of the things will forever remain a hard and horrible job is loading our equipment into trailers, cans and trucks… this happens all before we arrive at a venue, we load out of our barn into transport (this takes a day), we then travel to the venue, unload into the space. The we rig, style and dress the tipis and event space. On the other side of the event, we do it all again in reverse. The worst bit is loading back into the barn!!!

Delighted to be returning to Oakham Castle at the end of August for some more outdoor cinema. Our Oakham films titles will be announced at the beginning of next week and our 'golden tickets' (now there's a clue) will be on sale too! Come and join us for magic, for moves and for mayhem. Happy Sunday folks!!! It would certainly be a little remiss of me not to mentioned my dear beloved Jack Russell Freebie (The Star & Mouse Blanket Box Manager) After a very long and beautiful life she passed away in my arms in 2021. I promised her that I would continue to help dogs in need and therefore decided to rescue 3 dogs from the warmer parts of Europe. Meet Mõ, Cozy and Tig aka “The Cooeeys”. for anyone attending a cinema screening there is no doubt you will see them at one of our public shows. Sweet, hilarious and full of energy, my heart is devoted to them.
For anyone looking for a full party package, you can rent out “The Cooeey Club”. Packed with entertainment, tipis, furniture, fire pits, food and heaps more, The Cooeey Club is an easy way of putting on a grand party without the headache!

It's been a very long time since I posted anything on here. Two years in fact.

For those of you who are still holding out for us. Thank you. I have missed you terribly. Outdoor cinema has and will forever remain a big love of mine. But due to health reasons, there has been a much needed time away from The Star & Mouse.

I am delighted to announce that my new business is now officially open.

We are coming back for more cinema. But the news gets better - Star & Canvas covers so much more. From giant tipis and event furniture to woodland banquets and floristry! We do weddings, we do special occasions, we do corporate parties.

It has been a super long time since I (Mrs Mouse) have posted anything on social media. Please forgive me for my absence.
We have not stopped thinking about you all, but simply required a little breathing space.
About midway through our last season priorities in the mouse-house changed and some necessary reshuffling was much required.

For the better part of 18 years I have been blessed to have my dear old Freebie (Dog-Mouse) either at my heels or in my arms. You have no doubt met her if you've ever joined us for an event. Freebie's bones are now tired and worn out and for a little while, we have decided to take a pause with work and enjoy some precious time out of the fast lane.

The winter brings not just a change in pace but in scenery; Mr Mouse has finally managed to get back to Germany to visit his lovely Mutti and we (Freebie and myself) stand on Cornish soil for the next while and will be celebrating Christmas Day at the beach. I shall be reporting to you all with little updates on our adventure. There will always be a star-and-mouse-hole that needs filling, so please feel free to write comments to us or like our posts. We've really been missing you!

It goes without saying that we are still getting regular dose of cinema magic! Not far from the door is a wonderful independent Picture House called Newlyn Filmhouse ... and with there being such a fantastic line-up of great film at present we are, as you imagine, regular visitors!

With the new release of DC's goodbye Bond movie arriving last week. We thought we'd take a moment to salute him!

With non other than Eon's blessing, we were lucky enough to pair up with a wonderful team of people to produce an exclusive screening of 'You Only Live Twice' at Shuttleworth a few week's ago.

Having James Bond on our screen this year was a dream come true. And although we adored Sean Connery's performance, it was a reminder to us just how much the character of 007 has evolved through the years.

Daniel Craig; thank you for bringing Bond into the modern world. For making him fallible, for making him that bit more heartfelt. To all those Bond fans who are yet to see the latest; what are you waiting for?

Raising a little glass to you tonight D. C. We miss your Bond already!

A little throw back to a few weeks ago when we were lucky enough to screen The Dig at Sutton Hoo NT] …. We are forever blessed with what we do, but to have the opportunity to screen this beautiful movie right in the heart of where this true story was born was a rare privilege. Thank you to the Sutton Hoo NT] team for having us and of course to those who joined us. What a way to end our summer season

5 years ago today the wonderful and ever buoyant Miles Stopher came to do his very first gig for The Star & Mouse. It pi**ed it down with rain and he stood in very rubbish and tatty shed looking out through the threshold of the doorway. He grinned from start to finish and we immediately fell in love with him. Miles, what can we say, you are forever steadfast and ever so lovely. Thank you for all of your humour, your wit, your problem solving, your loyalty and ever wonderful sense of camaraderie. You are a big part of what we do and we love you for it. P.S James Bay's got nothing on you t***s! ###
