SHORT? BEAUTIFUL or LONG ENOUGH?

Today it´s exactly one month until Åland Swimrun 2024 --> it's starting to be time to choose your distance!

You have these amazing DISTANCES to choose from:

🏊‍♀️ Short Enough 6km is a fairly beginner-friendly distance where you run in a quite easy and really nice terrain and swim in calm waters!
Short Enough is perfect for i.a. swimrun rookies and also very suitable for juniors.

🏃 Beautiful Enough 15 km starts to get a bit tougher there, especially the swimming in sometimes fairly open sea means that the race can be a challenge!
The running will take part on both sandy roads, paths but also in the trackless forest terrain and along the western cliffs.

🏊‍♀️ Long Enough 21km is a combination of Short and Beautiful Enough which means a 21 km route through both easier and tougher terrain! Nothing that is intended for the beginner.

Regardless of the length and difficulty of the distances the Åland Swimrun – participants are promised a race that is Unique Enough for everyone – both for the experienced athlete but also for the curious exerciser.

Facts that might be nice to know about KÄRINGSUND!

The start and finish line and the competion center for both Käringsund Triathlon and Åland Swimrun is in Käringsund, a small idyllic village in the municipality Eckerö in the westernmost part of Åland.
From Eckerö is the shortest way from Åland to Sweden. The ferry Eckerö linjen goes from Grisslehamn in Sweden to Bergman in Eckerö, Åland in only 2 hours.
Käringsund is a bay and natural harbor that has become one of the most picturesque sights on the Åland Islands. Along the shores of this small bay the boathouses and boatsheds are lined up. These buildings are still in use, with locals coming here to take care of their boats and head out on the Baltic Sea.
Käringsund is famous for being one of the filming locations in 1966 for the Swedish TV-series “Vi på Saltkråkan“. The script was written by the Swedish writer of childrens’ books Astrid Lindgren.
In Käringsund you can also see some Nordic nature if you join Granberg Guesthouse safari tours. Red deers , roe deers, wild boars, ostriches and llamas can be seen during the tour.
At the Hunting and Fishing Museum (Ålands Jakt- och Fiskemuseum) located next to the boathouses you can learn more about historical tools and equipment related to hunting and fishing on the Åland Islands.

And last but definitely not least, in Käringsund you can this year again participate in Käringsund Triathlon that will be arranged 23-24.8 and Åland Swimrun 14.9😊

The whole family can participate in the race, or the rest of the family can follow the race from the terrace!
The whole family can attend for example the pasta party and the bbq- buffet, regardless if they participate in the competition or are there as an audience!
The whole family can, and will have a lovely weekend in Käringsund at the end of August!

! MINI TRIATHLON - the highlight of the triathlon weekend!

All our distances and all our participants are all equally important but.....you rarely see more joy in sports than during the MINI TRIATHLON in Käringsund!
They go all in but without taking it bloody seriously and show a true joy and fighting spirit from start to finish!
It isn´t that important to take exactly the right route and/or round the right mark, especially not for the toddlers!
It is also not so important who starts first, or finishes first! Or finish at all! The most important thing is that you have fun all the way!

For the TODDLERS it´s approx. 20m swimming/ wading, 300m cycling and 300m running.
No timing and no age-limit.
They have their start on Saturday at 12.00

KIDS boys & girls 9-11 (born 2015 or later/ 2013-14)
will swim 100m, cycle 3km and then finally run 1km
They start on Saturday at kl. 14.00

Open Water Challenge in the morning + Sprint in the afternoon = Käringsund COMBO!

1900m swimming in the morning, with start at 9.35 am from MS Sars!
Approx. 5 hours later, that is 2.20 pm you can participate in the Sprint where you swim 750m, you bike 20km and finally run 5km!

At the registration you can choose this combo and you only pay 110€ for two races!
And, of course, you can also participate in the short supersprint on Friday for free if you sign up for the combo! Three races in two days if you want- awesome! 😃

Short Supersprint - on your own or together with two team mates!

Yihaa, only 5 weeks until the new start of Käringsund triathlon and therefore also 5 weeks until the traditional Käringsund RELAY which this year will be accompanied by the INDIVIDUAL SHORT SUPERSPRINT!
A short supersprint is 200m swimming, 6km cycling and 2km running

In the RELAY each team member will do one part of the relay - in total 1 x short supersprint!

NO TEAM MATES?
This year an individual short supersprint will also be held for both young people (competition, boys/girls13-15) and adults (open class) on Friday!
So, this year everyone can join already on Friday, even if you come alone to the event!

Everyone who participates in an individual start on Saturday can participate in Friday’s distances FREE OF CHARGE .
A registration code for free registration for Friday will be found in the confirmation email when you sign up for a individual Saturday-start

Let's start by taking a look at the full menu for Käringsund Triathlon 2024:

Friday 23.8:
* Käringsund - relay
* Short supersprint - competition 13-15 yes and open class (all ages)

Saturday 24.8:
* 1/2 distance - competition
* Open Water challenge - competition
* Minitriathlon - for toddlers and kids 9-11
* Sprint - competition (17 and general) and open class

A tip!
Everybody can do the short supersprint (relay or individual) on Friday as an "appetizer" and then add on courses for Saturday!
Remember that you can make Saturday into a "two course"- day if you first do the open water challenge in the morning and then a sprint in the afternoon! You get this combo at a reduced price 👍

So,it´s time to sign up for one, two or maybe a three course event in Käringsund in August!

The registration for the Åland Swimrun 2024- weekend is now open! 😁

The distances to choose from are:
🏃‍♂️ LONG ENOUGH 21km
🏊‍♂️BEAUTIFUL ENOUGH 15km
🏃‍♀️ SHORT ENOUGH 6km

This year all distances will be without timing and thus no competition but the wonderful swimrun atmosphere will be there!

The REGISTRATION FEE is ONLY 30€ and that includes following:

🏊‍♀️swim cap (shall be worn visibly during the swim)
🏃marked routes, sporadic surveillance along the route
🏊‍♀️service points when going for a new lap (21km) and at the finish line for everyone
🏃sauna, hot tub and fish soup after the race

So, what is this Käringsundsloppet and Tour d Archipedalo?

It´s a weekend filled with fantastic cycling along the partly red roads at Åland Islands 🇦🇽
With a relatively flat landscape, short distances, most hours of sunshine in the Nordic region and a well-developed road network that extends both above the main island and the archipelago Aland Island is made for cycling. On the more than 1000 km of public roads in the Åland Islands you can see everything from families with children on cycling holiday to competitive cyclists who want to quickly get to the finish line.

The TOUR d ARCHIPEDALO on Saturday 28.6.2025 includes i.a the following:

🚴‍♀️170km cycling, on both the main island and in the archipelago
🚴‍♀️No official timing but possibility to compete via Strava
🚴‍♀️Lunch during the day
🚴‍♀️After bike by the sea with sauna and grilled light evening meal
🚴‍♀️Free cycling on Sunday

Sunday-cycling 29.6.2025 includes following:

🚴‍♀️ 30, 80 or 100km "Sunday cycling" together in groups

The one who waits for something good...😁

Some small updates are still to be made on both the homepage and registration page, but latest by WEDNESDAY 10.7.2024 we will be ready to take your registration for Åland Swimrun 2024

The 9th edition of the Åland Swimrun will be organized on Saturday 14.9.2024, this year as a swimrun weekend in the company of good swimrun friends.
Short Enough 6km, Beautiful Enough 15km and thus also Long Enough 21km will be marked this year. You register alone for any distance, but you are more than welcome to get around either as a couple or together in a group. Competition classes & timing won´t be a part of this years event and surveillance & service along the route is reduced – the main goal is to enjoy the experience.

In addition to running and swimming together we also offer for example fish soup at the finish line, pleasant moments in the hot tub as well as good food and overnight stay at Käringsund Resort

Semesterloppet är en motionsfest för hela familjen! Det är ett lopp där de glada motionärerna springer i samma klass som de som tävlar om att få en bra tid – alla är lika välkomna!

Förutom att välja sätt får även var och en välja den sträcka som passar bäst av följande fyra:

🏃‍♀️1 km = barnens eget lopp som går längs en egen, lättsprungen bana i närheten av tävlingsområdet

🏃4km, 8km och 12km = 1, 2 eller 3 varv längs 4km stigar och mindre vägar i vacker skogsterräng

The REGISTRATION 2025 is OPEN!

Already now, almost a whole year before the event, the registration for Käringsundsloppet 2025 is open! 28-29.6.2025 will it again be time for a weekend filled with fantastic cycling! 🚴‍♀️

We continue to focus on Saturday (28.6) when we go out into the archipelago to once again complete the Tour d Archipedalo 170km, without official timing. An internal Strava competition is created for those who want to compete. The race as a competition alternative is a combined road and time trial race that is primarily intended for the experienced cyclist who can keep going at a high pace all day. The race can also be enjoyed at a leisurely pace in our beautiful archipelago, without any competitive elements. Exercisers can start any time between 05:30 and 07:00 and are responsible for making it to Svinö in time for the ferry to Föglö. Otherwise the competition class and exercisers cycle together all day.
In other words, the day is also perfect for a group where only some want to let the lactic acid and adrenaline flow while the others want to enjoy themselves with an overproduction of endorphins.
After the race on Saturday an Afterbike is organized by the sea with a sauna, hot tub and a grilled evening snack.
Also in 2025 we will also offer cycling on Sunday 29.6, but we will leave out both timing and partial course markings in order to go out for a “sunday cycling” together with other participants. Planned distances are approx. 100km, 80km and 30km.

The 2025 version is almost a copy + paste of this year's fantastic cycling weekend and you can sign up for it NOW!

A big thank you to everyone who was with us this year - we hope and believe that you had as nice moments and great experiences as we did!

We have made the decision that next year we will basically offer a copy of this year's event. It means broadly the following:

🚴‍♀️ Tour d´Archipedalo 170km on Saturday 28.6, without official timing but competition through Strava
🚵‍♂️ After Bike by the sea on Saturday 28.6
🚴‍♀️ Sunday cycling 29.6, approx 30km, 80km and 100km

We have also decided that the REGISTRATION for 2025 will open already this week (latest Friday 5.7) and then the most important points will also be updated on the website!

Vi rekommenderar förstås att stanna några dagar när du kommer till Åland men alltid lyckas inte det och därför vill vi också berätta att det går alldeles UTMÄRKT att KOMMA FRÅN SVERIGE ÖVER DAGEN för att delta i Semesterloppet!

M/S Eckerö åker från Grisslehamn kl. 10.00 (lokal tid) och kommer till Berghamn, Eckerö kl.13.00 (lokal tid). Från terminalen i Berghamn är det bara ca 2km gåväg till Semesterloppet så bilen går bra att lämna i Sverige!
Kl.18.30 (lokal tid) åker båten tillbaka mot Sverige, och är i Grisslehamn igen kl.19.30 (lokal tid).
Du hinner alldeles bra delta i loppet samt njuta av en god middag på terassen efter prisutdelningen.

For 30 and 100 km you can register through Saturday 29.6

En knapp månad kvar till årets soligaste lopp!🏃🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Lördag 13.7.2024 är det dags för den 42:a upplagan av Semesterloppet, förhoppningsvis igen i strålande solsken!🌞
För 9:e året erbjuds fyra olika distanser – 12km, 8km, 4km och barnens egna 1km som växer till sig från år till år!

Loppet är en tradition som brukar kallas hela familjens motionsfest och lockar både återkommande deltagare från år till år men även hela semestrande familjer som lite oplanerat hittar sig själv på startlinjen.
Detta är ett motionslopp där de glada motionärerna springer i samma klass som de som tävlar om att få en bra tid – alla är lika välkomna och var och en får välja den sträcka som passar bäst!

Boka in andra helgen i juli 2024 för en helg fylld med aktiviteter i Käringsund, där det förutom Semesterloppet även arrangeras Barnens Helg!

Tomorrow (Wednessay 5.6) it´s finally time for Trollingträff Åland 2024! From 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday you can also still sign up for the competition!

Just come to the race office at Käringsund Resort & Conference and boom...just like that you and your team will be a part of the competition!

Open Water Challenge in the morning + Sprint in the afternoon = Käringsund Combo!

1900m swimming in the morning, with start at 9.35 am from MS Sars!
Approx. 5 hours later, that is 2.20 pm you can participate in the Sprint where you swim 750m, you bike 20km and finally run 5km!

At the registration you can choose this combo and through 23.6.2024 you only pay 70€!
And, of course, you can also participate in the short supersprint on Friday for free if you sign up for the combo!

Two things we want to draw your attention to today;
REGISTRATION is still OPEN and more and more adipose fin clipped salmon have been caught in recent days!

®️ The online- REGISTRATION is open for a few more days! Through Sunday 2.6 can you sign up for Trollingträff Åland. Link to registration can be found at www.trollingtraff.ax

🎣Not that many salmon catches have so far been recorded this year, but now more and more are starting to get a few salmon on the hook, even salmon without the adipose fin!
Perhaps the largest shoals will swim past Åland next week?!

The SPRINT!

On Friday we will have the short supersprint (200m-6km-2km) but on Saturday afternoon we have the SPRINT that is 750m swimming, 20km cycling and 5km running - it does't have to be harder/ tougher/ longer that than to do a triathlon! 😁

In the sprint you can choose from the following classes:
🏊‍♀️Boys/girl 17 - competition (drafting allowed)
🚴‍♀️ M/W general - competition
🏃‍♂️ open class

REMEMBER:

🏊‍♀️ It´s s perfectly possible combine the Käringsund Open Water- challenge in the morning and with the Sprint in the afternoon! There is plenty of time to do both of them and you can register at the same time for both at a reduced price!

🏃‍♂️Everyone who participates in an individual start on Saturday can participate in optinal distance on Friday FOR FREE!

The registration fee INCLUDES to following:
✔️ Registration
✔️Bib-number
✔️Possibility to compete via Strava
✔️ Lunch (Saturday)
✔️ Possibility to send your own drinks/ energi with the organizers´vehicles (Saturday)
✔️After bike by the sea after Saturday’s race with a sauna, hot tub and a grilled evening snack.
