Hey. Hi. Hello. I’m Erika - recovering pinterest addict, currently chasing the dream of becoming a successful event planner.
I’m a fan of telling over the top stories, glitter, coffee & running to an Eminem playlist to clear my mind.
Oh yeah, and I absolutely love celebrations.
When I was in high school, I threw my younger sister a sweet 16th birthday party uptown at our local VFW. The colors were hot pink and black (naturally) and as Usher and Ashanti blared out of the boombox speakers - You would have thought I was entertaining A-List celebs. I had officially hosted my first E.Vent. Complete with a scavenger hunt around town, with disposable cameras. We’re talking twenty 15 -16 year olds being driven by their parents, desperately searching for the next to-do item on the list. Pretty sure the winners each received a can of spray silly string. Basically, MTV’s “My Super Sweet Sixteen” doesn’t come close to touching this level of awesomeness. You’re welcome Megan.
I stepped my game up a little bit (and learned a whole lot more) in college, where I became the Social Coordinator for my sorority - planning chapter events and formals. I mean, if you can pull off a winter formal with 200+ greek men and women, without a hitch - You’re a pro right? I also spent my college years working at a local florist, with some amazing women, who became rolemodels and mentors to who I hoped to become in life. Through this job experience I witnessed the in’s and out’s of a local company’s perspective on event and wedding planning.
All these life experiences and early event planning days of mine lead me to this moment. The moment where I tell you - that planning a party or an event, whether it’s your younger sister’s 16th birthday, Alpha Gamma Delta’s Winter Formal, a fun Wedding or your best friend’s bridal shower - Planning isn’t easy to do alone. And that’s exactly why I decided to open E.Vents by Erika.
I help plan amazing events for people who love hosting, but don’t have the time or expertise to hash out the details. People who like me, have spent countless hours digging through the depths of Pinterest only to end up printing 500 Minnie Mouse water bottle labels for her daughter’s 2nd birthday, just to watch the ink blur and the paper fall apart once you put them on ice. And so you just stand there, smile, and hold back the tears, feeling the sting from the blisters on your hands that you have from cutting all of those damn labels out and hot gluing them to the Member’s Mark water bottles. Yep. This moment still hurts.
People who like me, who have waited until last minute to plan a baby shower for a friend and ended up at Party City the night before, throwing the most adorable decorations into that bright purple cart. Having the time of my life up until the moment when the total cost ends up being an adorable $400. Suddenly that 2 lb bag of baby blue chocolate coins doesn’t seem so necessary to the success of the baby shower.
I’m laughing as I’m writing this because these are real life experiences of mine, and the list goes on and on and on. I’ve worked in Event Planning “unofficially” for years now and the truth is - I’ve spent way too much money trying to host a blow-out event and not knowing the options that were out there. All of these “learning moments” and late night to do lists, have helped me realize (in a crazy sort of way) my love and passion for this career. I love having the opportunity to combine my creativity and attention to detail into helping others host the celebrations that they dream of - While at the same time - avoiding the same mistakes I made.
Life is too short for boring parties and the stress that comes with last minute cram-planning.
So what are you waiting for? Get off of Pinterest. Park the purple cart.
Message me and let’s do this.
Love, E
P.S. I told you I liked telling over the top stories.
