Yall saw Makenzie’s POV yesterday announcing that they’re (well I guess we all are) pregnant. So here is MY POV🥹 Being their surrogate has already been a life changing experience. And I’m so beyond proud to say that I’m PREGNANT WITH NOT MY BABY🥳🥳 When I looked at the calendar I knew I would be visiting around the time our first beta and all of that was taking place. So I came up with the idea of peeing on a stick for them to have this moment. Trying to preserve any “normal moments” for them in this surrogacy journey as I can. And I think this moment was pretty damn special 🥹😭 While Makenzie shares her side of the journey, I’ll be sharing mine as well. I’m not sure I’ll ever get over how amazing this session was 🥹 This location was not our Plan A but rather our Plan C. The idea of the photo session kept shifting. We had to switch locations literally last minute. My clients were late (because we know how long those in n out lines can be). And honestly, it all was perfect. Sometimes I need a session like this to push me creatively. To think outside the box and to not just do the norm. I always try and get creative with my photo shoots, but when the sun is gone, and your original idea doesn’t go as planned, it really forces your brain to work differently. And wowwww did I need it. The Dodds celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary with this session and brought their kids along. Which I loved too. Having them in the background and not asking them to move added to all of it. It celebrated what 15 years created for this family. Now my turn to share part of this speech🥹 Being a surrogate for @makenziephotography and @nofunbrock was a decision that I did not take lightly, but one that was easy for me to make. I’ve walked by Makenzie’s side for going on 13 years now, and I knew I wanted to walk alongside her on this surrogacy journey. Makenzie is hands down one of the strongest people I know. Her story is wild and filled with deep trauma and also deep love. Her journey to motherhood was not an easy path. So it’s an honor that I get to help be a part of it and be the one to carry their Beeney Baby before they can take over themselves🥹 I love you Makenzie and Brock! My job is so freaking special and fun and I’ll never get over it. I get invited into these intimate moments in people’s lives and get to document it for them, so they can relive it for years to come. Weddings, engagements, pregnancies, newborns, anniversaries, families, all of it. I get to be there. And that makes me so incredibly happy. My wedding couples found me because they were looking for a photographer to document their day authentically with bold, true to life colors. That would be real and transparent with them and be just as excited about their plans as they were. To dream up ideas and help with the timeline and really make sure to focus on their priorities and not just to perfect my own instagram grid. This job is about giving my couples the best damn photos they’ve ever had of each other and themselves. For them to hold on to those memories forever in a way they love. ❤️

Herding cats? Wrangling kids? I seriously think I’ve had this conversation word for word, at multiple different weddings 😂 I always tell my couples and their families… “some call it bossy, I call it assertive, and I promise when you have a drink in hand in 20 mins you’ll thank me for it” and lo and behold, they always do. Another reason why hiring a professional for your wedding is SO important. And why having a call with them, asking questions, making sure they can handle situations like this is crucial. It’s gonna be may🫡 As your wedding photographer, I make it my goal to be more than just the one taking photos. I help be your time keeper, holder of the schedule, your advocate, the one who can pull you from Aunt Susan if she’s annoying you, the “bad guy” who can tell people to put their phones away. I’m there for you. And yes, that means keeping you on track all day. Even when you have a coordinator (which I ALWAYS recommend) they’re busy doing everything else, and I’m the one with you alllll day.
