We head back north, over the border, to Meanjin/brisbane & Eora/Sydney based producer, DJ, party thrower and owner of Credits Records, Jacob Tompkins.

The 23 year old rising star of the Australian electronic scene, has gone from strength to strength since beginning his career five years ago (and through COVID!) so we had a lot to chat about. We talk about setting up parties in Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast) and how incredible the Queensland scene is for producers/DJs of all ages, Jacob’s extensive library of extraterrestrial samples and sampling inserted into his work, and being the rare DJ who moves more comfortably into producing (instead of the other way around!).

Plus, hear a swathe of excellent cuts from the man himself, a selection of Credits Records releases and maybe some new unreleased tunes.👀

It's been too long since I played a lot of straight house and four on the floor, and I've been itching to do that for a while. I've had a bit of a rough 2024 and quite frankly, house music is getting me through it.

Crossing paths at various parties in the last ten years, I ran into Eora/sydney-based frakktalz at a Kraftwerk concert in 2023 and found out they had just started DJing. I immediately invited them on the show for a chat and a mix to see what they’ve been up to in the last 12 months.

We chat about the perils of Rekordbox (hello Grimes), comparing music prep styles and I discover frakktalz’s enormous love for progressive rock from the 1970s, in their three song challenge (the show’s first prog rock tunes!), which took me by surprise in the best way.

You’ll also hear their fantastic guest mix after our chat, in addition to the second half of my The Tropical Fruits Inc set in March at the start of the show.
