Our final spring wedding of 2024 was timeless, unforgettable, and beyond epic thanks to Massiel and Thomas at one of our favorite locations in the world - in our home state of Connecticut - at Hartford City Hall. These photos after the first look were utterly unreal with a palpable love felt in all. We cannot wait to edit and share the ceremony and reception with everyone, too 💍 📸

Aurora borealis.

I sauntered outside here in CT once I noticed the clouds had somewhat broken. I saw red and pink explosions occurring from the horizon to directly overhead around 11:15pm. Pure luck. I had mere moments to get one of my Nikon Zfs, the 24-70mm f/2.8, a tripod, and a hasty night setup complete with subpar focus work. Good enough. It went behind clouds after about five minutes. Life altering nonsense.

The greens and light purple hues stayed more expectedly at the northern horizon for the rest of the night, looking sensational at 2-4am. FWIW, I could only see the Aurora with my naked eyes once I'd cheated with the phone or camera. When you knew where to look, you could see the faint green tone, or the dancing reds and pinks. The low light and color performance on the Zf is incredible. The back of the camera looks very much like the edited photo.

I don't even know what to say. I've waited for this forever, and we will likely never see this again at this latitude in our lifetimes. I look forward to future northern trips to see the northern lights again where it's commonplace, but that was unreal.
