Burris Weekly Championship Series Releases Final Standings
WEEDSPORT, NY (November 1, 2024) – The final round of points for the Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series have been released as of November 1.
In an effort to help reconnect weekly karting facilities, Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions and Burris Racing partnered to debut the Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series in 2024 with more than 620 entries scoring points.
With the introduction of the Burris Racing Weekly Championship Series, drivers at Burris Racing facilities had the opportunity to score points throughout the season in order to see how they rank against other drivers in the region.
The new weekly series, which mimics that of the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship facilitated by DIRTcar, required that drivers support local Burris tire tracks in the region.
Points were awarded based on a driver’s best 12 finishes at any participating Burris facility. Points were awarded based on the number of karts starting a feature race, with up to 16 karts being counted. Race winners were awarded 2 points per kart, with a maximum of 32 points going to a winner.
Participating tracks include Allegany Memorial Speedway, Brockville Ontario Speedway Karting, Can-Am Speedway, Lebanon Valley Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Moose Mountain Racing Club, Ransomville Speedway, Turkey Trot Raceway and Weedsport Kartway.
State series points were only awarded to divisions competing as a points class at each facility. Points are not earned for PRO events.
At the end of the 2024 season, eight drivers earned the distinction of being a Burris Racing Weekly Series Champion. Each champion will receive a set of Burris Racing tires and a Burris Racing State Champion jacket. The runner-up in each division will also receive a set of Burris Racing tires, with the driver finishing in third earning a set of right side Burris Racing tires; all at no cost to competitors.
A total of 26 Jr. Red Clone racers scored points this season with Harloe Russell, of Adams, NY, earning the series championship. Russell scored a total of 202 points between Can Am Speedway, Moose Mountain Raceway and Weedsport Kartway to earn the title by 24-points over Eli Reid. Russell Trickey earned third in the championship with Nolan Schroy and Bryson Herriven finishing in the top five positions.
A very large field of 92 Jr. Green Clone racers was topped by Ransomville and Weedsport track champion, Luke Holmes. Hailing from Lockport, NY, Holmes topped Mason Rogers by a mere 12-points for the title with Jack Reid and Mason Sharts ending in a tie for third. Ryan Barry finished a very competitive top five in the ultra-competitive Green division.
Nearly 50 Jr. Purple Clone racers entered in 2024 with Ransomville and Weedsport regular Laina Stewart collecting 286 points on her way to the series championship. Stewart bested Weedsport champion Levi Herriven by only 4-points to earn the title. Jax Cotriss, Jayme Just and Cole Schumacher were the top five in Purple.
The Western New York trend continued in the higher plate classes as Jenson Cook was declared the champion in Jr. Blue Clone, with a convincing championship run over Aideen Rusnock. Tyler Moden, Thomas Ruggiero and Gabriel Rodriguez would complete the top five in a field of more than 75 Blue racers.
Jr. Unrestricted was the closest battle of the year as Allegany Memorial Speedway racers Karson Harvey and Aiden Stewart battled for the championship. Harvey would claim the title by only 2-points at season’s end. Stewart would edge Genavieve Bartlett for third, who vaulted to the top three following a strong showing at Weedsport to end the season. Deven Matteson and Tory Hutton completed the top five in Unrestricted, covering a field of nearly 40 competitors.
Despite a 14-point difference, Clone Light came down to the last weekend of the season between eventual champion Seth Whitney and Ben Walsh. A win and a second in the last two races of the season at Weedsport for Whitney were enough to claim the title over Walsh, the Ransomville track champion. Brayden Bills, Aidan Seefeldt and Eric Veidheffer ended the year in the top five. Over 130 drivers earned points in Clone Light in 2024.
Clone Heavy was the largest division in 2024 with 148 drivers scoring points through the year. When all was said and done it was Colin Spatorico clearing Mike Seefeldt by just 10-points to score the championship. While Spatorico and Seefeldt each called Ransomville home, it was trips to Merrittville that sealed the deal for Spatorico. Trent Smith, Mike Farina and Matt Veidheffer ended the year with solid top five efforts.
Much like Jr. Unrestricted, Clone Super Heavy was a battle of AMS regulars as Mike Halbert scored the title by 14-points over Ron Bliven. Josh Kennell, Brock Waite and Johnny Layfield finished the front five.
Those securing 2024 awards will be contacted in the coming days.
Updates on a potential 2025 series will be posted in the coming weeks by Dan Kapuscinski Motorsports Promotions.
