We are delighted that General Manager, @‌Glenn Wilson has been nominated for an ACE Robyns Award.

The ACE Robyns Award was created by the ACE committee in memory of Robyn Jones OBE, founder of CH&Co, who sadly died in September 2015. Robyn was known for her tireless work in the mentoring, training and development of young talent.

The award recognises up-and-coming talent in all aspects of contract catering, from chefs to marketers and from butlers to business development staff. The awards are open to talented team members aged 35 and under who truly have what it takes to make a real difference in the industry, whether that’s cooking, serving or driving a business forward.

We asked Glenn about how important this nomination is to him,
“When I found out that I had both been nominated by Vacherin and then shortlisted for the award I was thrilled. I was always inspired seeing my peers and colleagues nominated for awards like this which celebrate young talent in our industry, and seeing what they go on to do.” Glenn.

At Vacherin, we strive to ensure that all our chefs are given the opportunity to grow and develop their skills and careers with us. We are doing this through training and mentoring across our sites at grass routes level. As part of this activity, we are encouraging and supporting our Chefs to enter industry-leading competitions.

This week ten of our Vacherin Chefs competed in the world famous, Salon Culinaire held at the ExCel Centre London.

Over three days of gruelling competitions and some very tough judging, we are delighted to announce the results for Team Vacherin, who won a total of 12 awards.

As part of our ongoing partnership Vacherin recently held a quiz night and raffle to raise funds for the Luminary Bakery. is an award-winning social enterprise empowering disadvantaged women in London to thrive.

The competition was fierce, some of the answers were questionable and the gold sequin jackets that our hosts wore were 'eye-catching'. Team Procurement triumphed with the winning score and walked home with a bottle of champagne each.

Our thanks to all of those who attended and contributed to the raffle prizes. We managed to raise £1,470 towards a brilliant cause!

Congratulations to Vacherin Chefs Emily Clews, John Hollins, Grazvydas Sinica, Ludvina Hatert, Guillaume Chambon, Poppy O'Sullivan, Vincent Smith, Joshua Bathurst, Rico Fonseca, Ben Garnett Sinclair who have all qualified for the prestigious International Salon Culinaire which kicks off at London ExCel today.

The International Salon Culinaire, founded in 1902, is regarded as one of the world’s top competitions for chefs. The event is live and spread out over 3 grueling days testing our chefs’ skills in front of industry experts.

Our Vacherin competitors have been perfecting their dishes and sharpening their skills in preparation for their events and we couldn't be prouder of them.

Director of Food, Paula O’Neill says, “I am truly delighted that we have 10 chefs taking part in this year’s competition. It is amazing to see these chefs grow not only with skills but also confidence. At Vacherin, we are focused on grass roots training. Coaching and mentoring our chefs to become our future leaders! It is s inspiring to watch these chefs flourish before our eyes. Best of luck to all our chefs, we are so proud!”

International Women’s Day 2023 is focused on raising awareness about why we must embrace equity and not just equality. An equity-based approach takes into account the diverse lived experiences of individuals so that we can tailor the support we give to each and every woman to enable them to thrive.

Paula O’Neill, our Vacherin Food Director, knows how important giving any equitable opportunity is in achieving real positive change for women.

The chef world is notoriously tough, and being a woman in this line of career brings its own unique challenges. Paula has drawn on her own experiences and success to set up a Vacherin Women In Food group to offer tailored advice and assistance to help more women succeed and go on to have successful careers in food. This month's theme of 'Finding Balance' is a perfect example of trying to find equitable solutions to challenges in the workplace.

Paula says, “I am lucky to work with inspiring women every day. We need to work together to support and develop women across the food industry, ensuring that talent is nurtured, encouraged and rewarded.”

Vacherin not only celebrates International Women’s Day, but we are consistently working to make meaningful positive changes to women's lives.

Alex Rowe, started out working in kitchens nearly 30 years ago, aged 14 peeling and chopping the vegetables in his local restaurant. As Head of Culinary Operations, he now manages the Vacherin Food Team to inspire and help them deliver them a huge range of projects across the business. We sat down together to find out a bit little more.

Why did you join Vacherin?

AR: First and foremost, the people! They have drive and passion for food and food service which shows in everything they do. Vacherin invest in people which allows them to flourish and be creative in every aspect of their roles. I have great pride in working for Vacherin and being part of the culture, we are creating as a business. We are one big family striving for success.

What’s your favourite thing to cook?

AR: It has to be steak! The perfectly cooked steak is just … amazing!

The best meal you’ve ever had?

AR: Now there is a question! I am lucky enough to have had a few, out of this world meals in my time but one of the best all round experiences for me was at “The Square” with Philip Howard. A tasting menu and 7 courses of just…. heaven!

Your foodie secret?

AR: My love for cooking comes from my Nan and as a child, every Sunday, we sat down to a traditional roast dinner and one of the best things I ever learnt to cook from my Nan was how to make the “BEST ROAST POTATOES EVER”! I still get calls today from friends and family asking how to make them the way I do and on Christmas day this year, friends of friends were sharing pictures with me, showing me how their potatoes had turned out which makes me smile every time. I do make a great roasty if I do say so myself 😊
