The story of my wedding film🎥

My husband and I got married in 2017, a couple of years before I started filming weddings myself. We really wanted to stick to our budget, and as a lot of you may know… things start to add up real quick. Wedding films were just starting to become a lot more popular then and we liked the idea of having something to look back on the day with, we just weren’t sure if we wanted to go over budget for it.

Well, turns out we got lucky - we were one of the first couples to get married at our venue and the owners had already hired a videographer for content for their website. We were going to get a free wedding film! I was so excited, but I didn’t even think to ask how long of a film we’d get, or what events throughout the day there would be coverage of. We got a 4 minute film that only included some details, our ceremony (with hard to hear audio), and some portraits.

While I am so grateful we have this film to cherish forever, I always look back and wish we would have just spent the money to capture our entire day and find a videographer with a style we love.

Photos and video truly just become more valuable as time passes. I would have loved to clearly hear our vows, watched part of our first dance, and see more of our loved ones that were celebrating there with us. Moral of the story - make sure to budget for photo and video! And I can say that from my own experience and not just because I do this for a living now 😉

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then how much does that make video worth?

I’ve really been leaning into capturing all of those small in between moments more and more on wedding days. I think after becoming a mother I learned how important it is to me to not only have beautiful professional photos taken, but also photos and videos of the small, everyday, messy, somewhat mundane moments. Those are what I am truly going to treasure years from now.

Video is able to capture this in such a phenomenal way! The sounds and movement draw you back into that moment to really feel and experience it again. While I’m totally on board with the gorgeous, posed couple portraits on your wedding day, I also want to make sure I capture a hug you might share with grandma, the happy tears from your parents during the ceremony, genuine interactions between your bridal party or guests. These small moments are important in telling your day and will be treasured when rewatching your wedding film.

I am neither a morning person or a night owl. I’m more of a “I need 8 hours of sleep every night” kinda person 😂

Hands down it has to be the personal vows! Your wedding day is all about a celebration of your love and what makes your relationship unique. Personal vows always touch on what is important to you as a couple and have so much true and tender emotion behind them. Not to mention, audio is always my favorite part of weddings, which is why video is an absolute must for your day!

Close runner up though for favorite part of the day has to be the mother son dance. Ever since having a little boy I tend to tear up at each wedding watching the groom and his mom dance together. One day that’ll be me! 😂🥺

Let’s do a little fun fact Friday!

🏊🏼‍♀️My husband and I met as lifeguards when we were teenagers. Whether it’s the pool, lake or beach, the water is my happy place.

Hey guys, Emily here! Thought I’d give myself a proper introduction here on Instagram. I’ve been filming weddings now for over three years and absolutely love creating a lasting keepsake for all of my couples! Besides being a wedding videographer, I am a wife, mother, dog mom, and lover of sunshine and good weather. Fun facts about me:

👶🏼👶🏼We are expecting baby number two in July! We are excited to add a sweet little girl to the mix.

🐶I probably get a little more excited than I should when I hear there will be a dog in any of the weddings I’m filming. This girl loves a four-legged flower girl or ring bearer!

🥒I love pickles and anything pickle flavored

☀️I’ve called Arizona home for 23 years now and enjoy all the beauty this state has to offer. I love hiking the Superstitions and I’m one of those weirdos who would much rather take an Arizona summer over cold and dreary winters.

Wedding days are so much fun for me! I get to be there to capture my couples’ big day and really take in all of the emotion and love.

I get so much excitement and joy though when I get to sit down behind my computer and start crafting each film. Every couple is unique and I get to choose music, audio clips, and video that really highlights the vibe and feeling of their day. It’s like a little puzzle for me, and when all of the pieces fit together just right you’ll be transported back to your wedding day to relive all of the emotions.

October was such a busy month with weddings, so I am happy to have the time now to finish up films and get them delivered to all of my couples!

Emily Faye Films is all about offering a custom experience and filming intentional moments in a way that is true to every couple. Each couples’ love story is unique and I want those stories to be told in a way that is intentional, authentic, and emotive.
