Here is a Hall & Oates track that Alan Almond played on Pillow Talk. Surprisingly, "She's Gone" dates back to 1973! The song was not especially successful in its initial release, but when Hall & Oates hit it big with "Sara Smile" (in 1976), She's Gone was rereleased and this song then became a Top Ten hit.

In the final years of the Pillow Talk era, Alan Almond was still adding great tracks to his playlist. A great example is this Hall & Oates tune from 1997. "Promise Ain't Enough" appeared on the first Hall & Oates album they released as independent artists, and it rose into the Top 10 on Billboard's US Adult Contemporary list.

Here is a classic that Alan Almond chose for Pillow Talk. The late, great Leon Russell wrote and recorded "A Song For You" for his first solo album in 1970 - a tune that has since been covered by scores of artists. In this original recording, Russell is on piano, vocals, and tenor horn too. While not a charted hit, the song was entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2018.

Here is a song we've never presented: "Fields of Gold," by Sting. Released in 1993, Alan Almond added this to his Pillow Talk playlist. It has just the right flavor for quiet evenings in Detroit. The track didn't break the Billboard Top 20 in the US, but interestingly rated much higher in Canada and Iceland.

Here comes another 80s time capsule! Alan Almond used to play "All This Love," by DeBarge, on Pillow Talk. This groovy 1982 love song was originally written for Marvin Gaye, but that never happened due to contract issues. Everything seems to have turned out just fine without him.

From late in the Pillow Talk era comes this smooth R&B track that Alan Almond used to play. The Tony Rich Project released "Nobody Knows" in late 1995. The song made it to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Interestingly, it charted very well internationally: #1 in Ireland, #2 in Australia and Canada, and Top 20 in Sweden and New Zealand.

Here is another Phil Collins track that Alan Almond played on Pillow Talk. This one too is from the Face Value album of 1981. "If Leaving Me Is Easy" is a slow, sad story of loss.
Collins stopped performing this song live after his 1985 tour because he disliked the audience yelling and screaming instead of being quiet during the performance.
