Mitsuharu Misawa died eight years ago today in the ring. He entered the business at a young age (which would have been younger had Jumbo not advised him to at least complete High School). This business was his life and his death. You don't have to watch this Misawa match specifically, but you should take the time today to watch one. Even if you aren't a fan of older AJPW, NOAH, or even puro/wrasslin' in general, I think it's still fully possible to appreciate his matches. Athleticism aside, he was a great performer and was able to tell a story in the ring that transcends any sort of language barrier.

I was entertaining the idea of trying to upload a Misawa match which wasn't already on YouTube but I don't have enough time for that. So this is a repost from ClassicPuro83.

I chose this match because it's probably my favorite match of all time. Jumbo is my favorite wrestler of all time and Misawa is definitely top 5. Some people prefer their match in '91, but this one just feels more important. I'm still on the edge of my seat during the last sequence, even after watching it dozens of times.

Classic era! '91 was a stellar year as far as match quality in AJPW goes. The finishes for the RWTL '91 and the Champion Carnival '91 were legendary.

Not the best, but definitely not the worst. In keeping true to the theme of the channel though, it was not already on YouTube and must be chronicled!
