Holy s**t. Mukha akong back-up vocalist ng Cueshe.
This picture was back in 2009 when I was only dabbling in hosting. I wanted to excel in it, but my corporate job was stopping me from doing that. I was trying to pull off a "pogi" pose but ended up with a haggard looking one 😀 My job took a toll, and the people who work the night shift know what I'm talking about.
Around this time, people knew me more as a vocalist (outside of my corporate life). I love to sing. It's my first love. But at that time, alam mo naman yung sinasabi nila lagi na "don't quit your day job". This quip meant something entirely different in the U.S., but here in the PH this means "survive first, and then safely do what you really want later".
But I learned later on is how this really works is you gotta dive head first. You grab whatever tools you can on your way down and hopefully you build something to sustain you, and ultimately, a nice, soft place to land on.
The rest is history. I moonlighted as a DJ for a couple of radio stations while working in the BPO space and ultimately, I was able to detach from it completely. It's not everyone's goal, but it was mine. And I'm extremely grateful to do what I do, work with the good-hearted people that I work with, and entertain people. Tapangan mo lang talaga. Don't listen to anyone else, forge your own path and trust it. And who knows? You might actually find something worth your while.
