Classically beautiful .
From wedding to wedding it’s always a joy of mine to take the clients colors, inspiration and personality and produce something new and fresh that is uniquely theirs. Just like when I am cooking in the kitchen, I never want to make the same thing twice. 🤣 Anyone else have this fun problem too?
It makes designing new and fresh and exciting on each turn!

A flower I always buy when it’s in season?
Jasmine 🌸🌿
See it there on the left? It’s delicate pink florets open to a beautiful white blossom. The vines have the most stunning leaves and twist and wind in the most perfect way.
Oh and the scent? If I could bottle it up, I’d wear it ever day. 😍

Career Barbie.
No, wait. It’s actually Mom Barbie. Well, it could also be Teacher Barbie and Volunteer Barbie and oh so many more.
Women wear many hats and I admit, when I became a new mom in my late 20’s, this balancing act wasn’t easy for me. I felt like I could really only be one or the other but I wasn’t ready to give up my business and be a stay at home mom. Mom guilt is real, friends. 😭 So I kept at it. I scaled back my business while I raised my small children but still kept booking events here and there. I was fulfilled in that stage of my life. Then, my mid thirties seemed to roll around. I found myself with kids starting school and more time to invest in my work. So, I dove head first! It wasn’t easy but school hours became work hours and I became Mom the rest of the day/night. I was exhausted but happy. This is when I began to realize there was no such thing as work/life balance. 😬 You have to choose one at any given time and bring in a great support team to help you with the other. Beefing up my design teams, hiring babysitters, investing in set up and tear down crews- you name it.
And then I watched my business grow. Here I am in my early 40’s. I don’t have it all figured out. Some days are harder than others. BUT, I don’t feed in to the lie that women should do it all. I support the idea of having a time and place for everything. I support the career women, the mothers, the volunteers, the educators and more. But I also support the idea of knowing your limitations and RESTING when needed.

What happens when you turn a hobby into a business?
It’s kind of like going to college for something you want to learn. It becomes serious. You soak it all in. You learn as much as possible. You don’t love it any less but you certainly tire quicker because now instead of just being emotionally invested, you are mentally, physically, financially and every other “-lly” invested.
Here’s to the lifelong study of design. 🥂🌸🌿
